I found a facsimile of a 1940 UK Food Ration book on ebay. The cover looks to be the same design. Too bad they don't include scans of the pages inside.

I'd buy one but I'm afraid I'd get it too late. I wonder if i could call the owner and ask to send me some high-rez pics of the inside of the pages. Or find an american copy.

Velvet Assassin site updated

Just happened to notice they've done quite a bit of work on the official game website:
http://www.velvetassassin.com
The usual stuff in a pretty flash interface. I did notice a couple things. They'll have a preview of the Morphine Mode in the future, so maybe a hint or something when that comes online. The 'Mission Briefing' section under navigation doesn't go anywhere yet. They have also added a link to the IG forum, so there may be more new players coming in from that direction now.

The most interesting thing I found however was this - check out the last pages of her journal. A kloo?

I just happened to run across today's edition of the Times and there's the following announcement in it:

Quote:
RELIGIOUS Friends Meeting - meeting praise at the old town hall, many to Edward Spencer. Further information Friday.

The wording in this advert is so strange. If there were 20 words to the message, I would think it was to be used with the circled numbers in the ration book from the video. The advert was in the July 19th paper and the video was posted on July 19th. Of course, the date would be the only connection.

Just figured it out:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There are exactly 26 words in the first sentence of the first announcement. Looking at the second announcement and counting when the words in the second appear in the first I get:

11 9 12 12 6 @ 18 19 25 20 8 5 1 2

I used the @ instead for the word 'at' which doesn't appear in the original. Swapping numbers for letters, we get:

K I L L F @ R S Y T H E A B

Who or what is AB?

Mr. Toasty very nice solve! I knew that wording was weird for a reason. Maybe we'll learn more on Friday, like maybe who or what AB means.

James Forsythe was assassinated. The Times message was an instruction, with more to come on Friday. Be careful - someone wants us silenced.

AB is possibly Anthony Blatchford - called Tony by employees at Surer Risk.

Ah, good catch! You should post that on the IG forum and see if Dan responds. We've heard one exchange between Forsythe and Blatchford before and there didn't seem to be any love lost between those two.

ETA - new Corrigan post as well:

I really liked James "Jock" Forsythe, he was very supportive of me, to the point of breaking ranks with the rest of the Surer Risk pack.

To treat him this way is a travesty, life really can't be that cheap! I am very sad, and find it hard to express how bitter I feel towards anyone who had a hand in this shady matter. Who would want him silenced, and why? Am I next in line for digging up some old secret? You won't be the first, so don't even try frightening me, I don't scare easily!

You will never silence us, and I will do everything in my power to uncover your shady past. I am not alone, kill me and others will take up the search for truth and uncover your dark secrets.

I will miss you Jock.

Bogey Man "Wheat!" Game on, you are going down! I will frustrate you to the point of handing yourself over to the police.

Hmmm. Following along with the last Announcement, this gives
10 7 5 1 6 9 10 4 2 8 3
which translates to
J G E A F I J D B H C
So, double encoded, or did I just mess up the translation?

ETA - Dan has a shot of the paper on his blog:

Full court press from the Fan on this one - new tweet:

We may end up losing this one... Numbers? What do they mean? I feel this last message has a hidden meaning - we need to move fast!

Ideas?
