EMAIL AGP: re: Caves

Here are the emails to and from the park about the caves. I don't know if this will lead anywhere, but I am sure trying... or should I say Herb Thompson is?

1st email:

Dear Sirs,

I am a member of The National Speleological Society, our website can be found at www.caves.org. I am intrigued by the mention of caves on the map you provide on your website. I have looked into your area and can find no mention of a cave system. You can imagine how excited we are to discover a new cave! I would be interested in discussing the possibility of our coming out to explore the system sometime in the future, perhaps this spring when the weather warms a bit.

Until then, would it be possible for you to send me whatever information you have so we can begin our investigation?

Sincerely,

Herb Thompson

Mr. Thompson,

I will forward your request to the park's landowners.

Follow Up Email:

Dear Mr. Bowers,

Thank you for your very quick response. I am sure you have a lot of other work to do, what with running a theme park and all.

I wonder if you could provide me with more information about the caves? An associate of mine seemed to think there may have been some legends about the system? His grandfather was from the area and said that he thought there might be some reference to that some place. Would you, or someone you could put me into contact with, be able to give more info on this? It would help our research greatly if we knew what other research had been done in the past.

Thank you again,

Mr. Thompson,

Thanks, but I'm not the one running Ash Grove Park, lol. I'm just the lowly PR
guy.

Anyway, I really don't know that much about the caves, except that they've been
there a long time, heheh. The only stories I've heard about them is that an
explorer named Eric something tried to explore and map them around the turn of
the century, but he disappeared, along with any maps he may have made. Folks
seemed to think he was eaten by a Cave Bear. It's said that he reported
discovering 7 rather large caverns before he disappeared, but again, that's
just hearsay.

We have the caves barricaded at a certain point to prevent deep access, as they
have yet to be fully explored. That's really about all I can tell you. I must
say, it would be nice to have some experts explore the place. I've always
dreamt of turning the place into a Mine Train Ride, but that's just me. I'll
let you know if I hear of anything from the owners.

I am planning on emailing back again offering to research and/or explore and map the caves, unless anyone can come up with something better. I have also emailed the library re: any local legends about the place.

Cave exchange

Here is the reply I sent just now, since no one has had any other ideas. I will let you know if anything comes of this.

Mr. Bowers,

I can certainly relate! I work at a local Bar Association doing membership services and, though I am often credited for putting on great educational programs, dinners and seminars, I am rarely the one who comes up with the ideas. Funny how similar our jobs are when you think about it.

Anyway, I have talked with some of my colleagues at NSS and wanted to be sure that when you talk to the landowners, you make them aware of the following: We are a nationally recognized society with strict safety standards. We carry our own insurance so the landowners will not need to worry about being liable. We also would work with the landowners and our attorney to make sure all applicable liability waivers were signed and all local regularions were followed.

Please give the owners my address and have them contact me at their earliest convenience. We are very excited and hope that our work will add to both the natural and oral histories of your local area.

Thank you,

Henninger. Eric Henninger. Hehehe.

An innocent joke or a subtle hint that his line of inquiry is a dead-end? Only RebaR knows for sure.

SEVEN!

Seven large caverns?

The seven sided stars!

Seems like good a place as any for a gate way to the underworld!

Peace!

might also be worty to note that the circle in the graffiti and the promo has seven points next to each other on one side of the circle, and three more on the other side - if the caverns are arranged on an arch, there might be three more on the opposite side of the circle on which they lay
