Maybe those of us who were at ARGFest were not invited since we were available in person to be 'interviewed' about our experience.
Or maybe they targeted developers (users of the program they were hired to promote)? A shirt for the ARGMuseum would have been cool, though. HINT HINT!

It turns out that's correct.

I don't know when any of your are available or free for the chat redux, but I'll be gone for, like, 16 days, starting today. Family vacation.

I am scheduled for a conference call with an "independent market researcher" tonight at 5pm. They were "...specifically looking to speak with participants who are also developers...", and apparently there ain't a whole lot of us.
Guess I'll have to study before the call so I don't sound like a complete idiot.
And I promise I'll be nice. I always am... right? RIGHT?!?

I'm a developer... but I didn't really participate too much. *shrug*

Well, I gotta admit I didn't participate much either. But I guess I made quite a splash with the endgame and all.
ETA: Well, the call-in number they gave me doesn't work...
Why is that surprising?
ETA #2: Rescheduled for tomorrow. *sigh...*

I talked to the "market researchers" as well - while they *were* looking for input from developers, they were also genuinely interested in my opinion of the game as a *player* (it also helps that I *work* with developers so have an idea of what they think). They were very nice and you'll get a shirt out of it
Kona, no worries... I'll bring my shirt for the Museum. Hopefully I'll have better luck keeping track of it than I did with the Beast poster...

Surely, you can find a box, somewhere, to keep it safe in.

Did my conference with the market research group finally. Think it went well, and they were really excited at the fact that I actually was a software developer, and a strong sponsor of Visual Studio (I had two machines running it on my desk during the call).
They did ask lots of questions about what kind of impact knowing it was Microsoft and for Visual Studio had for the game. They seemed concerned that knowing who was behind it and what was it based on would destroy the "fun" that was the game. In them asking these questions, I don't know if it was standard procedure and an expected question or if they simply don't know how ARGs work to begin with. They were a generalized market research company (the person asking the questions introduced herself and explained how they do market research for pretty much anything and everything).
Anyway, it went well. I'm hoping that I satisfied them enough to get TWO shirts out of the deal, since all the other programmers at the office want one now.

poopy. They said the first 50 to complete the survey would get shirts. never said anything about having to be a developer.
my impression of the game just soured even more - if that's even possible...

You don't *have* to be a developer; they wanted opinions from *some* developers because, apparently, we're their target audience.
I'm still a little confused about that. I mean, honestly, how many hardcore, career developers do we have around here?

Well they did mention you, I believe.
OK, that's TWO... So you and I represent the entire target audience of Microsoft? How's that for being special!
