Wow! Only one year left (again) until Star Trek is released!

Something had better start happening soon.

given up?

so has it been decided that this definitely isn't an ARG? i just stumbled on this and it's a tad disappointing that it's gone nowhere for almost 6 months if this was really supposed to be the start of a game. i was all excited to get my nerd on. Sad

i guess maybe any future clues got pushed back to coincide with the new release date? i dunno. anyhoo... a few observations as a last-ditch effort:

-when tuned to 100%, the numbers on the cameras (564, 125, 955, 289) add up to 1933. 1933 is the year construction began on the golden gate bridge, which is featured in star trek 4 and is on the starfleet academy logo, plus san fran is the location of the shipyard where ncc-1701 was built. probably coincidence but it fits the "under construction" theme of the page.

-could the initial values of the sliders have any significance? they are:
43.6%
87.5%
4.5%
71.7%

-can the green and black bars be arranged to form anything? (no such luck here.) anyone get anywhere with the spectrogram idea?

-could the contents of the corridor image be significant? there's a square map or sign on the left side cut into 4 quadrants with a circle in the middle, and there is some kind of handle or lever next to that. looks like there's also some writing on the wall on the right side of the pic but it's definitely not readable. any way to tell where in the ship this is supposed to depict?

did you guys hear that this film won't be at the 2008 ComicCon because JJ Abrams doesn't think it's ready yet to be there?

Hmmm. They have redone the official site and removed the red dot linking it to the NCC-1701 site with the 4 cameras. As far as I can see, you cant get there from there anymore. Wondering if they have changed the projected ARG with all the additional time they have had now.. Either way, things are warming up a bit..

https://boldlygo.intel.com

Here's another new site that trekmovie.com just reported on. Not viral, but it's something to do with Intel and it's tied into the movie marketing somehow.

Any thoughts?

I think this merits mentioning everywhere humanly possible...

I don't know how many of you are aware of Randy Pausch, a Carnegie Mellon computer science professor who recently died of cancer. He gave a lecture called "The Last Lecture", a very powerful and meaningful lecture, in September of last year. I encourage all of you to watch it if you haven't.

Well, something of note on Randy Pausch's Update Page hosted at Carnegie Mellon University:

Naturally, I presumed this was one of my friends, playing a prank. But after a little sleuthing, it was clear it was for real. Jai & I hopped a plane to LA, where I got a custom-made Star Trek uniform and my own station on the bridge, where I had lots of buttons and controls. I even got a LINE!!!!

In addition to publicly thanking JJ Abrams, I just wanted to say what an incredibly egoless and cool guy he was. We chatted a little bit between takes, and he is so tech-savvy (and I'm not saying that *just* because he knew all about Alice!). Anyway, it was a truly magical experience. Speaking of Magic, I got to fulfill a long-standing wish of taking Jai to the Magic Castle on that trip, courtesy of Peter Farquar. MK Haley, who is herself quite magical, joined Peter and his wife and Jai & me for an incredible evening.

the "Star Trek" movie will be in theaters December 2008. Don't blink or you'll miss me, but at some point a guy walked across the bridge and says "Captain, we have visual!"

I'd *love* to show you my costume (which they let me keep), but I promised JJ Abrams "no photos". They're trying to keep things a secret; in fact, even on the Paramount lot, you have to walk around in a trenchcoat if you're in a Star Trek costume. It's kind of like being at a flasher's convention!

Oh, and if you think I'm making this up, here's a copy of my check from Paramount (they had to pay me due to some union rules or some such... I'll obviously be donating this to charity).

A copy of the check, given to him by Paramount Studios and donated to charity, is HERE

Well, a lifelong friend of mine who works in the biz is doing some work on the film and he says its absolutely fantastic! Hes signed the paper so he cant give any details but he says its going to set records and doubting trek fans will be pleased...

Not cheezy or predictable and great action..

Having heard it from someone who has seen it, I can now boldy go forward and allow myself to begin to build up massive quantities of anticipation with the confidence it will be rewarded.

Bring it on!

rough cut

I had heard that Kevin Smith saw the rough cut and was really impressed with it, too. I'm curious: now that the ball is starting to roll, will the ARG also start to roll?

From Wil Wheaton himself...

Quote:
Host: So thumbs up on The Watchmen, what else you got?

Smith: I saw a movie last night that I cannot talk about.

Host: Was it good?

Smith: It was phenomenal.

Host: Any stars, any break out stars, and do they trek?

Smith: The stars absolutely trek in this film. It is fantastic. Anybody who was worried doesn't need to be worried–about this film I cannot talk about…It was in very capable hands. The director did a phenomenal job–the director and his crew. Top notch cast and the guy that plays the lead is an instant star. That dude is going to be so famous. He is so wonderful. He picked up a role that I would say is pretty challenging for someone to step into the shoes of, because it is a role that has been played before many times by the same guy.

Host: How do you out Shatner, Shatner?

Smith: I don't know what you are talking about.

Host: I was just saying that as an expression.

Ah, yes. The Last Lecture.

That's really wonderful. I can't wait to see him.
