Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Have you figured out what alphabet that is? Once you have that you need to do some decryption. I think I only actually did a line or two then used the power of Google.

Anyway kudos to all still working on this and special hat-tip for maintaining the rage to Sslug who was here when I first started.

I'm not sure if it is really a rage, more like a nagging unfinished bit of business that is driving me slowly insane (not that there is far to go there).

OK... I have tried to work the blocks.. and like everyone else I am stumped....

But I have a theory....
what if there is not a solve for it?
What if its a red herring/dead end

didnt the Candle seem a little easy to anyone?
I mean after the circles, the RUNES and the tarot card.... a simple solution like that....

what if the solve was supposed to be something else?

Just a suggestion.....

Extremely unlikely. Greengecko has used this cipher once before. It's something he created apparently and never got a solve on before he had to pull it for silly drama reasons. It most certainly was not a red herring then. I'd find it hard to believe he's aping himself and using his own code to throw us off.

Is there another path? Perhaps, but you seem to have come to the same end the rest of us reached with little or no help. If you come up with something, I'm sure there are more than a few people around here who would be very interested in hearing about it.

I am almost convinced that we all took a wrong turn...
I got a lot of help from everyone here. I used this forum to check myself. So, of course I was going to find what everyone else did.
But I am going back over the last few and redoing them... there has to be a step we all missed.. Just have to find it

Believe me as soon as I do I will let you all know.

I know what alphabet they are using, but in my google search, all I find is that the alphabet has never been deciphered to date. Using the resources available to convert from what is written into the regular alphabet yields gibberish.

Any clue you can give me would be appreciated.

perhaps the gibberish is enciphered plaintext...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Try shifting it about a bit.

as for the bloody slug bunnies.

Confused

"Two Towers" vs Paired Block cipher from "The Shadow"

Some of us have previously wondered whether this thing is a paired-letter cipher constructed using sets of two "towers" of paired blocks. Judge for yourself whether you think this is convincing:

The title of GGs geocache puzzle is "Childs Play" which is actually quoted in our favourite comic book "The Shadow" from which the circle cipher was taken. "The solving of this circle code was childs play"
http://www.apprendre-en-ligne.net/crypto/bibliotheque/shadow/shadow340715.pdf
(page 72). GG has also similarly referred to "...a factor which another might have overlooked" which is a quote from the same comic which appears on page 81 just before a different cipher, a paired-block code, was cracked (solution on page 83).

At the same time, GG has made numerous quotes from the Lord of the Rings books including his famous first clue "Cold be heart and hand and bone, cold be travellers far from home...." which is a quote from "The Two Towers". In conjunction with that clue he offered a quote from a Poe poem also titled "The Shadow". One way in which the multiple references to both Tolkein and The Shadow can be reconciled is with the idea of "Two towers" of blocks forming paired letter combinations like the paired-block cipher from The Shadow.

The "overhanging" blocks in the puzzle would just be redundant letters presumably.

Significantly, GG's final clue on the Tweleve Torment Blocks thread was "try BLEW". It seems coincidental that "EW" is the starting pair at the base of the left-most pair of "towers"
[ie, BLEW = "Bottom Left EW"].. maybe worth thinking about?

GG has used this before and didnt get a solve,... why would he think he would get one now?

Somewhere back there.... there has to be a turn off...

I am positive that its a red herring..

Spoke with a few here and we dont agree... but I havent come up with anything when I did go back...but I am still trying...

I think the best hint for the first one is a hint that will also help you later on...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
think languages

There is a solve for almost all of the puzzles..
There are a few deadends. the ones you mention probably have solves... but since no one came to them logically I dont believe anyone spent a serious amount of time on them.

Just a guess

Holla if you need assistance.. the Twin Towers is getting to me now.
