Finding Jenny

Alright. So I have a hard one for you guys.

I found this picture inside of a book in a Goodwill store about 6-7 months ago. I was going to use it in one of my art pieces but decided that the little girl looked too cute to cut up and plaster paint all over her face. I took her home with the intent of one day finding the girl in the picture and returning the photograph to her.

So now I need your help. I know nothing of who she is or where she is from or where she could be. The photograph obviously looks as if it was taken years ago so she probably doesn't look like this anymore.

Here's the picture.

(For a larger picture you can go here. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3231/2697471865_60f3b81b05_b.jpg )

She probably lived in America at one point and maybe in Miami, Florida where i found the picture, but she could be anywhere by now. I call her Jenny, though that might not be her name. And I did not look inside the book where I found the picture for any more information.

This is all we have.

I know we can do this. I know we can find her.

Interesting...but, you want to find a girl just to return a photograph? Forgive me if I am a little suspicious.

I'd love to help, my lack of trust aside. But I'm not sure where to begin. Do I google "blond lady, Miami Florida." That won't work well...I'll be on craigslist in a matter of moments!

Do I google "Mysterious picture found in Goodwilll." No...that wouldn't show anything useful. I don't know where to begin phyzix. Any suggestions?

well this kind of reminds me of the perplex city find Satoshi event. Seven degrees of separation. You know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who might know our Jenny.

If we discuss it with people we know; we'll find her.

At first, I looked at your post and thought, "There's a big waste of time. Satoshi is childs play."

Then I got to thinking about the possibilities.

I'm guessing there is no company info on the back for who took the picture.
But there's usually a watermark for the paper manufacturer and they change, periodically. So that might narrow it down as far as a date (and might even narrow the list of companies that take school pics.

A review of yearbooks from Miami Schools might be a possibility if you looked for pics that had a similar background screen.

I'm sure the women on the boards could narrow down the timeframe based on Jenny's shirt, as well.

I get a mid '70s vibe, but could be way off.

What book was it in?

Perhaps I've missed something...are you both saying this is a game?

And smart-thinking Rogi. Your post reminded me of Sherlock Holmes and his amazing deductive abilities that seem so simple when you look at it, but are hard to duplicate.

If i remember correctly it was in a book about animals. It was hard cover.

There is no watermark on the front of the picture and no contact info on the back but there is a watermark on the back that says "This paper Manufactured by Kodak"

Yes S.P.I this is definitely a game.

A game that takes place in the real world with real people; kind of like an ARG.

Unfortunately I have to go to bed...I'm volunteering at the blood bank tomorrow and - yawn - I have to get up early so...yeah. And, well, right. Good luck. Don't have too much fun...

Edit: Wait a minute. You said there wasn't a watermark on the front of the picture - but I'm staring right at one. Shocked Or maybe that's a coffee stain...*cough*

@S.P.I.: No idea whether it's a game or not, but I'm going with "not", for the moment. I hope that's water or coffee Shocked

It really should have been posted in Various and Sundry and not N&R, though.

So, she was a budding biologist! (Or veterinarian or future zoo worker) Smile

Silly question...
It's not an old library book, by chance? Or might it have some other marks indicating it's history (A "property of" stamp or any writing, say, on the inside of the cover)?
Kinda sounds like you no longer have the book.

Ok so first no offense but this obviously has nothing to do with an arg so I see absolutely no reason why this should be even posted let alone discussed and secondly who uses a picture as a bookmark (which I'm assuming she did) and thirdly if she left it in there she obviously didn't care that much about that picture.

No this isn't. This is you spamming the forums to find a picture of a girl. No offense, but there are other ways to find her, and as Angelus said, if the picture was that important to her, she wouldn't have left it in a book going to Goodwill.

She looks like Courtney Thorn-Smith, who stars in ACCORDING TO JIM..

Comparing my own attire of the day, I'd say she would now be about 44. I had a shirt real close to that in 6th grade...this girl looks to be about 4th grade, maybe 5th.

I have to agree. This seems more than a little creepy-stalkerish, although let me note I am not accusing the initial poster of anything but the best of intentions.

This isn't an ARG. It's an R - this isn't alternate, and it's not really a game either, it's a member of the forums requesting research assistance. Nothing *wrong* with that, but lets not pretend this is anything other than what it is by dressing it up with emotionally charged, challenging words.

Whether people choose to assist or not is up to them, of course, but I question whether this should be posted in this specific forum.

Why are you looking at me like that? What'd I do? Hey! NO! Not me! NOT ME! I didn't do anything!!!

I live in Miami, Florida: it's now your turn to convince me. Tell me, in vivid detail, where you found this and where you were in Miami. You brought my city in to this, now it's time to defend yourself.

You know where to find me, I imagine...
