Web Site Building

While preparing for my upcoming game, I suddenly realized I don't know HOW to build any of the websites I want. While I am not attempting to run a game for free, I am looking to do it inexpensively. So That brings me to my question: Is there a decent Freeware/Shareware program available for website design that can be used by a rookie? It should be noted that I am not planning anything elaborate: a home page, an update-able news page a contact page that sort of thing. Of course if I had the tools to make an In Game chat like Project O did, well that would be cool.

I think that Weebly would fit your needs nicely. You can even register your own domain really easily; basically, just plug in your credit card number and hit OK. As for the in-game chat thing, I might be able to help you with that - check your PMs. Smile

Ditto Freewebs.com Also, if you want free, though pretty old school, wysiwyg editing you might look at SeaMonkey (Mozilla freeware, really Netscape in a new wrapper + some stuffs). I used both of these for the Avatars puzzle trail, and put it together as fast as I could think stuff up. And I haven't done html in about 6 years, so I was essentially relearning as I went. Updates are easy as well. Nothing fancy, but it works.

If your site is really small (<20 pages) and you don't expect tons of traffic both of these have free options. Whether or not you want a domain name depends on what you are using it for. ufavatars.webs.com is a free name on Freewebs. I know Freewebs is like $100 for a year w/Domain name included and think Weebly is equivalent. w/o the domain, higher volume, like $10 a month + another 10 set up fee or something.

PM me if I can help...
