[CITY LABYRINTH] Nürnberg / Nuremberg To complete our omphalos network, I have decided to run an additional omphalabyrinth in Nuremberg as soon as possible (i.e. as soon as the necessary trackstick arrives). Here's the path I intend to take:

Any allies in or near that city? You're more than welcome to join me, for those omphalabyrinths are definitely more fun if you do them in a team.
The omphstrength gained from this will be rather small (ca. 2.53), but at least it's another knot tied.
Interesting additional remark by Eli:
Quote:
The Nuremberg labyrinth looks terrific. And perhaps it will help more
than we think. If we have knots along similar latitudes as far north
as you are, perhaps the net will start to stretch over the top of the
globe if that becomes the shortest distance between some of the
points...
Sincerely yours,
Eli Hunt
The labyrinth's center would be at 49.45° northern latitude, 11.07° eastern longitude ... If I understand Eli correctly, we'd need someone at a similar latitude on the opposite side of the planet to do a labyrinth as well!

Oh, I am absolutely sure that it will be great fun! The advantage compared to our gigantomaniac Munich labyrinth is that this one doesn't need so much organising in advance (when and where to meet whom, how get another bicycle, where to leave aforementioned bicycle locked with a combination lock so that our latecomer will have a chance of joining us as well, which alternate route to choose in case a known building site might block some streets etc.).
I hope that starting right at the feet of Nuremberg Castle will give some extra symbolical strength to the labyrinth. Besides, I intend to visit Germanisches Nationalmuseum , which currently offers and exhibition on early modern book culture. Since Nuremberg was a centre of the humanist movement, maybe one of those venerable scholars discovered traces of the lost sport in the ancient texts he was studying ...
And then there's another exhibition about a famous "gaming tapestry" as well!

Centering the labyrinth around a historical monument of importance is always a good idea, as the chances for the same or similar monument to have been built on the other Earths are relatively decent. Therefore starting at the castle is a very nifty plan.
What is this knot's potential strength ?

2.53 - not much, but better than nothing.

I think we've reached the moment where surface coverage matters more than strength anyway...And I just noticed there are only 8 knots left to tie ! Woot.

I've just come back from a long, hot day spent walking, sweating, getting blisters, light sunburn, searching for signs and having fun.
Voilà: The world's first TWIN omphalabyrinth.
No. 1: Ingolstadt. Run today between 6:30 AM and 8:45 AM.
No. 2: Nuremberg. Run today between 12:01 PM and 14:21 PM.

Wait, that sounds familiar
Congratulations Canzonett ! It's only fitting that a very special labyrinth designer would run a very special labyrinth design. I'm sure you, too, rediscovered your city in a new way. For the sync of the many Worlds !

All the more fitting because I really didn't know these two cities until today. If you ever have the chance to visit Nuremberg - don't miss it. Gorgeous, gorgous city. Ingolstadt is nice as well, but plays in a somewhat lower league, if you ask me.

I'm still uploading them, so check again later!

I've added comments to all my omphalabyrinth photos now, to help you spot the signs. I don't now how we could overlook the multiversal significance of these two cities for such a shockingly long time. I guess the only reason why they weren't on James's lists was that they were so top secret that only the highest-ranking members of Theo were informed about them.
