However, we still need a northern omphalabyrinth. News from Anchorage?

I'm contemplating trying to get one for my city... it's an hour from Toronto, so not sure how effective it'll be, but it's still not too late to request from Kai a stick, yes? my city's not easy to find a decent labyrinth route, so I've gotta do some experimenting yet... right now it seems a larger 3 circuit may be in order...

Remember that the strength of the omphalabyrinth doesn't matter so much anymore...we're just trying to up the number of knots at this point. I am reducing the Montreal labyrinth to 3 circuits partly because of this (it will make it go over easier with my family).
Too bad the timing probably won't work out for me to just give you the Toronto Trackstick as I am leaving on my trip Aug. 4 and won't be back until the 15th and will need it to run the Montreal omphalabyrinth (and the labyrinths have to be in by the 8th if I understand correctly). If I were you I'd request a Trackstick from Kai ASAP even before you get route approval.

ok here are a couple of attempts... both 3 circuit, if I've done them right... I took the measurement of the widest axis for the stadia size. Both start and end at 'interesting' spots
comments/suggestions?

Hm. Should we carfully plan which 5 labyrinths we will do at the end. If I sum up all planed runs I get more than the missing 5 labyrinths. What will happen if we have more.
Would be bad if Reykjavik is the sixth labyrinth, which is not counted and our network would be still incomplete.
But I hope every labyrinth is valid even if we have more.

The number of omphalabyrinths is NOT limited, once we reach the minimum of 27 knots. See chapter 22 and 23 of the codex:
Quote:
The lines should cross at least 27 times, creating 27 knots. (ch. 22)
And to knot the knots, you have to create at least 27 labyrinths (...)
one rock
covered with a net
with at least 27 knots (ch. 23)
So let's make as many omphalabyrinths as we can!
Like both of thebruce's designs, the first one looks a little more even and well-balanced.

Yeah, I agree with Canzonett.
Send these to Eli ASAP! Like now! If you get them approved before I leave I'll come up and run it with you, Trackstick in hand!

Omphaputer update last night.
New training times.
Code:
as of 7/29/08 ''Numa | 3 Circuit: 14.01 | 7 Circuit: 1:31.06''
as of 7/29/08 ''Kenorland | 3 Circuit: 13.02 | 7 Circuit: 1:26.33''
as of 7/29/08 ''Gaea | 3 Circuit: 10.69 | 7 Circuit: 59.15''
as of 7/29/08 ''Gondwana | 3 Circuit: 13.12 | 7 Circuit: 1:16:57''
as of 7/29/08 ''Pangea | 3 Circuit: 12.56 | 7 Circuit: 1:13.39''
as of 7/29/08 ''Pangea Ultima | 3 Circuit: 13.01 | 7 Circuit: 1:28:08''
Pangea seems to still be the only competition. They shaved 3 seconds off their 7-Circuit record.

just as a note (because I forgot to mention it on the wiki update), I think the Earth-omphalos page could really be cleaned up a bit... I've started shrinking some of the pictures and organizing it just a bit, but there's so many cities to do...
basically, I propose putting the layout designs to the right of each city section, with the final route image on the left, captioned with the KMZ file link. Not every 'done' city has an image or a KMZ file though, so to encourage them I've left broken links for the image and KMZ if not available...
that page is freaking long!

Go ahead, by all means! You might also throw out unused design proposals ...

The Boulder one is done! My friend posted photos here (start with the first one and read through, his commentary is really funny!)
