Cloverfield 2: The Quickening
It's gonna be a reverse role, taken like the US Godzilla movie (which personally I enjoyed) where towards the end everyone feels sympathetic towards the big lug and although they manage to Kill/stop/drive it off they all feel really bad, then they give him the key to the city after he stop sbaby godzilla from destroying new york!

I would throw up if I saw that.

hey, he doesn't want to break something that worked. That's respectable.
But I do Want Cloverfield 2. There's plenty to work with.

that's how it could be...but look what the dark kinght brought in over 150 million in it's first weekend i say that's not to shabby for a sequel but alas it all depends on alot of things though

You're forgetting a very important detail: dark knight already had pre-existing material to work with (which is why sequels like lotr are great as well). When you have to come out with new material, sequels like the matrix sequels come out. This is especially true with a movie like cloverfield, where 99% of why it was great was because of a unique "gimmick" (for lack of a better word). This would no longer be unique.
The way i see it, paramount will make a sequel, regardless of jj abrams being on board. When a movie makes quadruple what it cost to make (especially when the price to make it was relatively low), chances are there's going to be a sequel. And if i'm not mistaken, paramount owns the rights and does not need abrams, goddard, or reeves to even be associated with it.

okay got it now! yeah that would be a shame if they did a cloverfield sequel w/o jj and company but from the sounds of it; it most likely sounds like something new and not a seqeul (you know to shut paramount up with a propsal for a sequel)

That is the conundrum I have found since I returned...
I just hope Reeves makes a good sequel, an understandable one too, but not to involve too much of the Viral story in it (Kinda what TLE does) or it would be a direct to DVD movie.

I don't think the first person idea isn't a bad idea again. Look at Blair Witch 2 and that flop. Although Blair Witch 2 got horrible reviews, it did have a good ending.
The first movie produced about 4 minutes of seeing the monster. Since we've now seen the monster, a military perspective wouldn't be a bad idea.
My idea would be a tape of the DOD updates of the events, gently blending in the previous viral story with eyewitness video from soldiers and air support.
