Value at risk

When I first tried to visit DWY, I got that failure page that was previously posted. I entered all the links on it into firefox and it kept directing me to a wikipedia entry on value at risk

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_at_risk

Did anyone else get this. There seems to be some stuff about past and future value in there, but it's mostly economic stuff.

also has stuff about expected tail loss

I dunno. He sounds too.... made up. Most of the time if a character of this nature were truly in-game they would be less upfront about every little detail.

I'm gonna call this OOG until something significant shows its face.

It certainly smells like a gamejack attempt to me. Nothing in-game points to him; he's only pointing to in-game stuff. And really, anyone who has seen the casting call for Comicon actors would be able to concoct a vague story using in-game names. I call shenanigans!

It's 3:15 Pacific time....and I just tried the site again. I found it working perfectly, and not lagging. And to reiterate, I am on a pretty old iBook computer with hardly any RAM or memory, and a lagging processor...however I do regularly download things like Java updates for Safari. I am always, usually, the FIRST one to have problems with things locking up on me....that hasn't happened here yet.

I am wondering if maybe it would help if people totally emptied their cache, rebooted, and tried again. Or downloaded the latest Java update for their browser, restart, and then try again?

Also, my friend got confused in the opening, so I will post this in case anyone else reacted similarly....

Despite the fact that you may have registered with Octagon or Dharma previously, you are still a new user on the DWY site. The button for those already registered is for those who have already taken the test on this DWY site. Obviously, the Comicon button is for those moving on to part 2 from their initial testing at the convention.

My friend kept getting a "email address not recognized" message because she hadn't registered at the DWY site, just Octogon and thought that was enough. This could be helpful if you got locked up during registration. You could try logging in there, and if it is accepted then your registration went through. If you were missing info or an avitar, perhaps you could go back and change/add that way.

I feel your pain, guys. I have been there so many times. And I completely perplexed as to WHY this time I have such clear and easy running.
Dunno

PS: I second the "shennanigans" call by Brian.

...so why doesn't the D... thing accept my totally valid email address?

EDIT - worked out the problem...although the site allows entrants from other countries it only seems to allow DOTCOM addresses....

Absolutely, I just sifted through the 20+ pages for giggles. Would've been more interesting if he'd set up a site and a few videos. Confused

Unfortunately the problem is "server side", they either got hit by more people than expected, or or have a somewhat sloppy configuration. Glad it happened NOW and not in the midst of the game...

Romania?
Romania not in register list.

Hi,

I'm from Romania and when i tried to register couldn't find my country in the list a DWY. Why would this be? Even Rwanda is on the list, so it's not because of country significance. Lost is run here on the AXN network.

Maybe deliberate? Hmmm..... Shocked

I finally got the site to load, no idea why it wasn't earlier. But I agree with previous comments, the site is damn sexy. This looks like it's gonna be fun.

What the hell is wrong with this site?

Earlier it wouldn't accept my registration at all...

So tonight I retook the test, and tried to re-register (after checking first to see if my previous login would work -- nope). It told me that the email I was using was already registered. Hrm. So I tried another email -- and it told me *that* one was already registered too. That's impossible because it's an email that I only rarely use.

Whatever is going on, I don't think the company behind this is up to the task.

Dharma finally wants me.

THere were still a few bugs on the server-side for 'too many connections'. The site looked great but my registration looked like it didn't go through. I heard the womans voice with the 'thank you' message but the 'loading' kept on 'loading'. I clicked on the submit button again and it said that the userid was already being used.

I'm so glad that it took the first time, otherwise I may have had to choose a userid of 'stinkyToeJack' or 'hurlyhurl' or something.

It sure will be exciting to find out what the leaderboards are all about.

I hearby demand an apology from eveyone who said i was "wrong" about Hoodlum. I said that exact same thing like two days ago. Find 815 was the same exact way. The website was extremely glitchy and it couldn't stay online due to heavy traffic. Hoodlum/ABC still have not learned from their past mistakes, save for them protecting their data from cheaters.
