Found it! It's the crest of Gauteng whcih Johannesburg is capital of.
http://uk.geocities.com/landswapen/GautE.html

Funnily enough, on the actual crest it says "Unity in Diversity" which seems to have been taken off the other one.

EDT: Some more..

Weren't most of the jobs George and the d-9 website talked about mining jobs? They also seem to have taken the bees out of the crown, and I can't really figure out why.

Nice find!

It is odd how they took out the words and the bees. I found the mining part particularly interesting.

I mean, the words I can understand.. mostly. Obviously keeping that on with the d-9 regulations would be pretty hypocritical, but it also seems heavy-handed to do away with it totally, especially for the "Non-humans should be treated with care and respect.." etc on the d-9 website.

About the bees.. Maybe they just don't like them? (Oh! a pun! ...kill me.)
http://www.fleurdelis.com/meanings.htm says that bees mean "efficient industry" again, no real reason to take them off.

Another quick search says "well-governed industry" which is almost as tongue-in-cheek as getting rid of the banner underneath. Maybe it's a bit of foreshadowing?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was foreshadowing. But only time will tell.

Hey guys. I'm a SHH! regular, I thought I would join up here too since I'm getting in pretty heavy with D-9. putting in a lot of time to the Wiki.

While the differences in the crest seem odd, they may have just changed it to avoid copyright infringement. It is still odd that they would include it at all, though.

Just got back from Comic Con, saw the 'non-human only' signs at every bathroom entrance...had to find out WHY!

I've never been involved in a ARG, but I absolutely love the idea. I've been searching all over the sites that I found via the www.d-9.com site. Finally did a google search to see if anyone else was talking about it, and found this place!

Can I play too?

Of course. Smile Welcome aboard!

Of course, there are dues. I think it involves cookies

*snerk*

Oh yay, I get cookies...oh...hey, wait a minute...

heh.

From Steph-thm over at SHH!

"hmm. well I stumbled upon something kind of random on mnuspreadslies...

(image not shown, see link below)

thats at www.mnuspreadslies.com/images/d9logo.gif

ok, so I found this by poking around the page source code for mnuspreadslies, because I noticed there was a d9logo2.gif, and I wondered where the first one was... It's strange, no? It looks like there's a sideways "A" in there, but I've no idea what the other symbols are supposed to be. Is this just a mistake of some sort? thoughts?"

If you look at the logo for MNUSpreadsLies.com in the URL bar, it appears to be that image.

EDIT: I lied.

Hey everyone.

I just found out about this this morning and I have been trying to read everything I can about it.

This looks and sounds amazing!!!!

I just watched the short film that District-9 is based on

Alive in Joburg

If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you watch it. It's really good and really quick. Only 6 minutes.

Very Happy

that was an awesome watch, thanks very much. It may have been mentioned before, but if it was I didnt notice. I didnt know the aliens were telekinetic! Or maybe it was the suits, but thats not normally how that sort of thing works in fiction.

mnuspreadslies.com

has anyone noticed if you translate the language on the titale bar it actually reads "MNU Spreads a Lies"

also George's ICON says "TY" in alien

Molly's "Damn"

Chris's "Save D9"

Yuri's "I hate MNU"

Just bored again so took the time

clicked on show all comments and view sorce on the 7/4/2008 message and this displayed

function myPopup() {
window.open("form.php","Window1","menubar=no,width=450,height=340,toolbar=no");
}
//
// In my case I want to load them onload, this is how you do it!
//
Event.observe(window, 'load', loadAccordions, false);

//
// Set up all accordions
//
function loadAccordions() {

Is this normal?

Looks like it is as I found a thanks to "Will Shaver at Primedigit.com" in the source. The site looks legit so far and does not look like part of the game..
