Wouldn't this support the theory that it's turned because of Ben's turning of the Frozen Donkey Wheel? He turned it about 90 degrees, which seems to be quite interesting.

Ok, so the donkey wheel turn has me thinking directions. I took the logo, and found out which trigrams are attributed to which physical direction. See file.

If directions come into play at any given point in this game, North may no longer be "up"....heh.

Good thinking, but until other things are discovered, there's really not much we can do, learning that East is Up.

Wouldn't Qian be up, as it is Heaven?

^^^^ Awesome Job!!!!

Well I think that solves the mystery.

Unless they are trying to tell us something by changing the logo.

I really dig the oragami idea, especially since they handed out instructions on how to fold a swan.

I wonder if it matches Ben's logo when he landed in Tunisia? Don't have time to look right now.

The graphic-designer side of me looks at this and thinks the wheel was rotated for purely stylistic reasons. The one "spoke" that really stands out is the one with the hole in the middle; the rest have slots of varying depths (or none at all.) In other words, the rest are closed convex/concave shapes, whereas the one is a torus. When you throw the word "DHARMA" across it (as in the Comicon booth), the doughnut hole is obscured by the text and doesn't have as much attention drawn to it. Alternately, it could have been rotated 90 degrees the other direction, but then you possibly have the doughnut hole lining up with the hole in the "D", which would be aesthetically wonky.

That's my take on it, at least.

Not at all in the case of a Bagua I guess ... read on.

Jabramz & Co. new version aside, the true bagua maintains Li @ the top as it was in the original version ...

To remedy an awkward sense of direction, also note that a true bagua always maintains "South" at the top of the Bagua ...

(Li=South=Fire/Sun)

SOUTH at the top
EAST to the left
WEST to the right
NORTH on the bottom.
Confused

Not that any of that is helpful, etc. - and so that completes our Bagua 101 lesson for the day - lol

No, it's just not the same.

The logo changes from when Ben turns the FDW and when he lands in Tunisia.

shapes

If you put the 'pieces' of the logo together, you would have 4 identical shapes. Wide base, tapered at the top. I don't know why or what it means, but those slots have to be there for a reason.

DWY Shadow
Rotated and Mirrored?

I was on the DWY site again today and noticed something strange that, I believe, has not been noted before.

The shadow of the 'bagua' does not match the main bagua. During the rotation after selecting one of buttons the main bagua 'opens' up and (as noted by sea_dot) each trigram exists on it's own 'plane', which does not change regardless of rotation. I mention that simply to say that this difference, I think, cannot account for the inconsistent shadow.

If you click on the 'My Profile' button the view shifts to one lower and you can see that the 'Li' trigram (the O looking one) is at the top of the shadow. Moving clockwise you have 'Xun', and then 'Zhen'. Moving counter-clockwise from 'Li' you have 'Kun' and then 'Dui'. To get this orientation you must first rotate the DWY bagua back to the original DHARMA position and then mirror it. I may have this a bit wrong (going a bit blind and loopy from watching the bagua twist and spin so many times) but, the positioning of the shadow remains the same when clicking on the other two main buttons on the page.

But, if you select the 'About Us' link at the top your view rotates all the way around the bagua and there is a second shadow there, it is not visible on the main site only when selecting 'About Us'. This shadow is different compared with the first shadow, the 'mirroring' effect is no longer present (the order of the trigrams is the traditional order), but the 'Li' trigram is still at the top.

Not sure what it all means but, given the high quality of the design on the site I'm sure that it was intentional. Hopefully someone can confirm or discredit this and maybe knows what it might mean for the game.

Apopheniac79- oh yeah the shadow doesn't match

Silly idea: could the logo have bits cut out and have been turned 90 degrees due to Dharma redesigining themseleves, just because the last logo was 30 years ago, new logo, new Dharma idea, most componies change thier logo before a relaunch

Part of my personal theory of "what the hell is happening on Lost" is that the Island doesn't just move through traditional space and time but dimensions as well.

Dimension "A" Dharma comes to the Island, finds the donkey wheel, turns it and accidently (as in the Incident?) moves it into Dimension "B". Later, Ben puts on a Dimension "A" Dharma coat, turns the donky wheel, intentionally sends the Island into Dimension "C", and gets thrown out into Dimension "B". If so, Ben's logo changing on his jacket (or the other variations) of the Dharma logo have no significant meaning. They are just that, variations of the logo for different Dharmas in different dimensions. The changing of Ben's logo is the same "course correction" that Desmond learns about during his initial time hopping.

It's all quite logical, no? Rolling Eyes

You should better say timelines and move your theory into the 5-dimensional space (parallel universes). Then it would be quite logical. But lostpedia says:

In "The Shape of Things to Come" the parka's logo has incorrectly ordered hexagrams; however, this prop was remedied in "There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3".
