And that is why I also predict that this game will completely fail. From what I hear, 815 was boring. Obviously they're trying to minimize the amount of clues, and have gone far too far to the point of not doing anything at all. O.o

I wouldn't say it was boring, unless you were expecting a full on ARG with the clues coming quite often. It was a fun time waster and got me back in the mood for Season 4. However I will be disappointed if this is similar to that, I want something much more in depth this time round.

Unfortunately I am getting the feeling that it will just be a test every week (similar to the Find 815 updates) and that there will be no actual ARG style elements. Please prove me wrong !!

Agreed.

Find815 wasn't boring, it was just very linear. There were a ton of clues embedded in sites and lots of little "side trails" that you could research, but you didn't have to get into that side of it. I actually really enjoyed it. You could choose whether or not you wanted to dedicate fifteen minutes or five hours. Hopefully this will pan out the same way. Where the user decides how in depth they want to get in the "game."

Just my 2 cents.

The opening of this game looks very much like the beginning of the LOST Experience, which was very elaborate.

I don't know if TPTB were able to get corporate sponsors like they did for the LOST Experience. I expect an ARG somewhere inbetween the two of them.

See, that sounds kind of ideal to me, since I won't be able to consistently give a huge amount of time to the game. Although, that said, I'm not a huge fan of the linear, trail-of-breadcrumbs style of play. But I suppose that's the trade-off: it's easy to play in a simple universe, or difficult to play in a complex universe.

But then I'm not really all that experienced with ARGs. I guess that's just my interpretation of the game play coming from a background in writing.

quick note:

When I got an email on july 29th, i went to the dwy site around 2pm eastern time, after a very slow loading process and took the test, then i passed and i started filling out a registration.

The registration card however had a blank line where 'card number' was.

After I was done filling it out, it started loading and never left that screen for hours so I closed it.

Today I went to the site again, and filled out the test, passed, and filled out the registration card. This time, however, there was a prefilled number in what used to be a blank space.

I don't think this is too important, but I thought I'd note it anyways.

but I also feel that we have a little more to go on than just find815. the whole duaneisinsane thing kind of confused me as to what came from where... but we still have people talking to us in the source code right??

**didnt play TLE, and only SOME 815 so i could be way off**

unifiction

so does anyone know when (if) this will be moved to the Chaotic Fiction part of the forum? or is it not a big enough game and will either stay here or move somewhere else (but not the Chaotic Fiction section). Just curious.

At this point, it's very linear.

When (and if) it needs branching (i.e. more than 1 thread) then the Admins will move it and provide guideance for game label, probably something like [LOST3] perhaps.

But, until something really happens, we just wait and continue our discussion of "what will this be"? Wink

Not very promising for sharing information - Everyone now has to have an Alias.

ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS
RE: SECURITY BREACH AT COMIC-CON 2008

As many of you may be aware there have been a number of security breaches in recent days related to the nature of the Dharma Initiative's latest research.

This included the unauthorized release of sensitive video documentation during a sponsored panel discussion with the makers of the TV show "LOST" at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego. Consequently, the person responsible for this breach, a promising recruit by the name of Dan Bronson, has been expelled from the volunteer program and had his Dharma membership permanently revoked. Furthermore, the Dharma Initiative has withdrawn their sponsorship from "LOST".

The Dharma Initiative must stress that the video material leaked at Comic-Con 2008 was viewed entirely out of context. Furthermore, the way in which the material was presented utterly distorted its significance and credibility as scientific data.

The Dharma Initiative is extremely disappointed with this outcome and has ordered a security audit of all departments. As part of this audit the DharmaWantsYou recruiting website will undergo a security upgrade in the next few days.

Upon completion of this upgrade a date will be announced for the official commencement of Volunteer Assessments.

All recruits are reminded that the unauthorized release of confidential information pertaining to the details of your activities within the Dharma Initiative will result in instant dismissal from the volunteer program.

Namaste.

How nice to find it, but would be better to know HOW this was found.

I tried poking around the site as well. There is nothing I could see that would lead to this specific url from the normal front door of the website.
