Communication with DreamProjector.com

No reply yet, but I sent:
Quote:
Doctors,

As a practicing internist with a background in sleep medicine, I find your site fascinating. I've subscribed to your e-publication, and I'd like to become further involved if you're willing.

As you all know, sleep apnea is inextricably linked to daytime somnolence and other physiologic ailments, including hypertension & cardiac disease. These are the simple external effects of the physical effect of disrupted REM and repeated intermittent hypoxia at night.

How, then, does sleep apnea affect the dream process? There are no other investigators that I'm aware of that might be able to answer that question.

Being affiliated with a very large medical group, I have access to large amounts of research funding that you may not otherwise have access to. If we might be able to understand your research to this point, it might be possible for me to personally recommend financial incentives to you in order to further your project.

Yours,

D. Max, MD

They don't seem very eager to communicate, even when tempted with money.

About a week ago, I sent an e-mail offering them venture capital to commercialize the dream projector- no response.

[EMAIL] From Dream Projector

Not too much of interest, but this is the first personalized email from DP that I'm aware of. I just asked about becoming a test subject.

Quote:
Mr. Stern:

Hopefully you've receieved our newsletter which details the procedure
for becoming one of our test subjects. In the event you did not, I'll
quote the representative section for you here:

"How do I become a Dream Projector Test Subject?"

This is the most common question we receive, both by e-mail and by
telephone. While the Dream Projector is constantly seeking new Test
Subjects to participate in our ground-breaking research, the extensive
time and resources we devote to every Test Subject require us to employ
a highly selective screening process. This insures that the candidates
selected have the highest probability of success in the Dream Projector
experience.

The first two steps in the process of becoming a Dream Projector Test
Subject need to be performed by you, at home, in the comfort of your own
bed.

Step 1 - Get a notebook and pencil or pen and keep them next to your
bed. For one week, write down every dream you have as soon as possible
after waking up. Tell yourself before you go to sleep, "I will dream
tonight and remember my dreams."

Do not re-read what you have written until the end of the week. Make
notes as to the differences between what you remember and what you have
written.

Step 2 - Do the same thing the following week, except this time add
another step to the dream recording process. Approximately three to four
hours after writing down your dreams, tell them to someone else, without
looking at what you have written. Have them then read what you wrote
about the dream and make brief notes about any differences.

After you've collected two weeks of notes about your dreams, e-mail the
Dream Projector at: mydreamsSPLATdreamprojector.com and tell us, "I'm ready
to share my dreams." We'll send you information on how to proceed from
there.

I apologize for the delay in responding. I've been on vacation, and
apparently nobody was monitoring the general email during my absence.

I just got an email from DreamProjector in response to an email I sent a while back about archive volumes of their newsletter.

Quote:

Mr./Ms. Jehane:

Mr. Evans:

I apologize for the delay in responding. I've been on vacation, and apparently nobody was monitoring the general email during my absence.

I've passed your request for Newsletters 1 and 2 to our IT department.
Hopefully they will be able to email those issues to you.

Thank you for your interest in the Dream Projector.

My thoughts:

- Mr/Ms Jehane, haha! Jehane is my first name.
- Who's Mr Evans? *confusion*
- We have a name for someone at DP! Shock.
- I wonder if the IT Dept are better at answering their emails >_<

As far as documented proof the the Dream Projector can be used to help
mental patients, that is one of the studies currently underway at the
lab. As far as I know, the clinical trials are still underway.

Another name, but not much else:

Thank you for your interest in the Dream Projector, but we are not
accepting further investments at this time. We are fully funded for our
Phase II clinical trials, our continuing research and development
efforts, and our domestic commercial release.

I've forwarded you messge on to Dr. Shoemaker. Hopefully he or one of
the project team members will be able to answer your questions.

Thank you again for your offer.

If everyone recalls this journal was mentioned at the start of the ARG. I assume they gave us about two weeks to record a journal. Someone stated they had already had a journal they made. I think this ARG is starting to heat up so we should persue any leads made available to us as soon as possible. I think that maybe if multiple people have started but not finished a journal we should combine them and hopefully have 2 weeks of information. That way we arent really cheating and making stuff up but we dont have to wait another 2 weeks to get started on this aspect.

I have been recording my dreams since the day we received the information about how to become a "Dream Projector Test Subject". I submitted my material in a lengthy email to the company yesterday evening because it had been two weeks.

I have always been able to recall my dreams and often they are oddly bizarre. When I wake up, I usually have a pretty good chuckle because they're so weird. I just seem to accept anything that happens in my dreams no matter how unusual. Interestingly, I almost never have nightmares, but last night I did have one. I actually screamed in my dream and apparently I was screaming out loud because my wife freaked out and had to wake me up.

Anyway, the email I sent yesterday contained some good ones, so I'm hoping they respond quickly. I'll keep you posted.

Wow, nice work Cinemaniac.

I finally got an email reply from DP too. There wasn't anything interesting in it, but I'll quote it here for completeness.

Much of the technology used in the Dream Projector was developed by the
project team and is proprietary in nature. The information on our
website is the only public disclosure of information regarding the
"inner workings" of the Dream Projector.

I've forwarded you message on to Dr. Shoemaker, but I can't guarantee a
response as he is extremely busy. As far as being able to capture
audio, all I know is that Dr. Shoemaker's concentration has been in the
area of the visual cortex. I am unaware of any efforts by the project
team to capture audio recordings.

Thank you for your interest in the Dream Projector.

one November spawned a monster

I just googled our new friend's name and came up with one Web site:

http://www.chez.com/scilia/fics/largo/fanficLWdocteur.htm

It's in French and seems to talk about a doctor or doctors, but for all I know it could be about dancing monkeys.

I'm guessing it's nothing, but I would like a second opinion from someone smarter and "Frenchier" than me.

Tried to get babelfish to translate it, but couldn't get the site to come up. One thing I notice is the "fanfic" in the url. Maybe it's some sort of fan fiction - for what I don't know.

edit - ok, got it to translate.

Still doesn't make much sense...

"Summary: That to say... put in the order the following words: Sarah, Simon, Joy, Kerensky, baby, Largo, childbirth, mountain and you will have the fic that you will read;)"

Much ado..

The website contains a fan made Largo Winch episode.

http://www.geocities.com/largo_winch_tv/eng.html

Search the page for Svetlana, you'll see the name appear many times.

In other words, i think the name is simply a tribute to the show...
