[MO]Unified August 23/24 Olympic Topic

This is the topic I imagine where we can talk all about what will happen on the day of the Multiversal Olympics and whatever. To start things off, we've heard from Edwin Moses through Ariadne about our competition teams.

EDIT Woah I just realized that we have 16 people for Essef! How'd that happen o_O

Greetings from Team Tokyo

Hello, Team Tokyo will run on Aug.24 6:30am, as shown in Alex's blog.
(I'm not the team captain, but a messenger as usual)
We are looking forward to running the simultaneous labyrinth.

Team Tokyo has only 13 members, so we'll run only 3-circuit.

Mr.Judkins, I apologize to you for not having joined your discussion about webcasting.
(At that time I was not confident that we can get enough members in such an early morning)
Team Tokyo has always run at Yoyogi Park, and will run there on Aug.24 too, but broadband internet connections seemed difficult.
Are you still thinking of webcasting? Then we'll continue to investigate things.

As I live very far from Tokyo, I'll reserve a hotel close to the park.

*cough*

yeah. well, that might have been an overestimation. Two of the people on our team have indicated that they won't be there for the 23rd. And at least one other might not be able to go.

The number of players isn't as important as ability. If you don't have enough players, but have the skill to finish the 7-circuit, you merely have to have the team captain perform a personal labyrinth to inform her other selves of the fact that there will be 13-players instead of 16.

I'm probably going to have to do that myself.

However, I think 7-circuit needs at least 14:

I therefore think it wise of us to submit to the Multiverse Olympiad our best teams, even if our best 3-circuit team has 8 members instead of 11, or if our best 7-circuit team has 14 members instead of 16.

And we haven't trained ourselves for 7-circuit.

I got an email from Edwin on July 31st:
Edwin Moses wrote:
Your city can choose to compete in the 3 circuit, the 7 circuit, or
both.

So we applied for the MO as a 3-circuit-only team. (I wrote so in the application email on August 8th.)

I had expected a team from Africa will join MO, so I wonder now if only five teams will run 7-circuit.

I have to disagree. I think Eli is giving an example, not an exact number.

At worst, your application is denied for having too few players. At best, you practice a little and win. If you only had 8 members, I would say that's probably too few for a 7-circuit...unless you had an amazing runner.

yes. you are accepted for the 3-circuit.
Also apply for the 7-circuit. at worst, your application to do the 7-circuit is denied.

We haven't applied for 7-circuit.

And when Eli's message about the numbers in Alex's blog was posted, we had only 8 members. So his intention was that we should apply only for 3-circuit, although I don't know how he thinks NOW.

And I have to add we are not sure all 13 members will be able to come.

Apply for the 7.

unagi, I agree with ariock--apply for the 7-circuit as well. You have nothing to lose and everything to win! Very Happy

I'd totally do the london thing.
Except for the fact that I'll be in Penzance when it happens...
Any chance of moving it? Laughing

I'm home now from a several-day trip, and leaving home for Tokyo.

Pita, I'm discussing 7-circuit with Team Tokyo, but I have to say it's really difficult.

If Ariadne's post is correct, Team Tokyo has 13 members. If I understand correctly, if the Dikaiosune performs a personal labyrinth (indicating to other multiverse selves) that you are using 13 people to perform a 7-Circuit labyrinth, then you can do one. Convincing your team mates to do one is another problem altogether. Smile

I understand your suggestion about the number of the team members (I talked with Eli again), but the main problem is the last point you mentioned.

But I haven't given up 7-circuit yet.

Aw, well good luck unagi!

Good luck to all the teams this weekend: Beijing, London, Salvador, Tokyo, and Wellington!

And good luck to my homies and crew: Team Essef. Very Happy

Only nineteen more hours until the Multiverse Olympics Officially begin. Rock On
