REAL Cloverfield Related Explosion in Culver City California

Yesterday there was this mysterious explosion that happened in Culver City California (few miles away from LAX)

I was working at a nearby establishment there and noticed some smoke filled creature with growling sounds.

Apparently after 1hr, authorities and some sort of Special Forces (in Hazmat) quarantined the area.

For some reason only few news showcased it but now Im scared if the Cloverfield Monster is somehow true.

This is true and here are some related links from local news

Probably filming something. Lots of tv and movies are shot in the area, and there's lots of shows currently in production.

Far more likely a bank vault robbery than a smoke monster.

In a related story, Clover also made an appearance in northern Toronto...

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/11/world/americas/11canada.html

As in the OP, initial reports mentioned a "smoke filled creature with growling sounds", but this was later found to have been caused by footage of one of Jean Chretien's speeches accidentally being projected onto the smoke.

ARG's are one thing, but exploding things for Cloverfield 2? Too RL for promotion.

oh not really. remeber the incident with the promotion for the aqua teen hunger force movie a year ago or so and recently with the dark kinght when 42 entertainment sent those joker cakes...all i'm sayin is that there could be a possiblity that this incident could be a set up too you know

Yes, but not propane explosions! Food is one thing(are Joker cakes food? =P I know Tru Blood was sent out, which is a drink), but dangerous explosives are another.

what happened in toronto was not a stunt, not marketing, not viral - it was a very real, dangerous, devastating thing that's caused some divisive lines between residents and authorities, and a fireman's death (possibly among others). Not even worth kidding about.

I'm in Canada, and you didn't even piss me off. Hell, if I remember correctly, I was the one who started the Toronto-half of this discussion (actually, I was just making a point, but anywho...), so if anyone should apologize it should be me...but, good luck getting me to do that.
