"Dan hasn't changed any of our passwords."

I recall we had some old passwords in the pass, anyone remember which ones we had?

As i understand it now (i have obviously been a bit slow so far Embarassed ) cstrife311 could be Craig as well as Dan. Who else could be using cstrife311? I think we should be carefull before we know which cstrife311 we are talking to.

The problem therein lies that we don't know those directories. OR maybe we do, We know Jeff - Transcendental is for /misc, what other directories are active?

New chat with Dan

Here's what we've got... (Note that I was careful in making sure he din't think I meant what craig wanted us to see. Always assume it's Dan. Craig will correct us.

Quote:
[17:47] musicadonum: Hello
[17:47] cstrife311: Hello
[17:48] musicadonum: We've seen what you wanted us to see now.
[17:48] cstrife311: What did you see?
[17:48] musicadonum: We know you want our screentest...
[17:49] musicadonum: What does this consist of, we don't own a camera that will see what you see.
[17:49] cstrife311: oh so you're finally ready to play?
[17:49] musicadonum: Indeed.
[17:49] cstrife311: its just for fun....i like to see the people who were so close to finding out the truth
[17:50] cstrife311: but yet...you really werent that close
[17:50] cstrife311: how many of you are there? 3, 4 maybe?
[17:50] musicadonum: Enough of us.
[17:50] cstrife311: Oh you're sure of that?
[17:51] musicadonum: This is a very one sided game, you haven't made the rules very clear. Care to elaborate?
[17:51] cstrife311: A one sided game?
[17:52] musicadonum: Well, a game is a two way thing, when I send you my screentest what happens then?
[17:52] cstrife311: The rules are....if you catch me nobody else will be infected....if not, then I carry on.
[17:52] cstrife311: If thats a rule...ha
[17:53] musicadonum: Simple enough, and suppose we catch you?
[17:53] cstrife311: Its all just for fun. You have to be patient. This is just a simple beginning.
[17:53] musicadonum: Ok.
[17:53] cstrife311: I just want to see my fans
[17:54] musicadonum: How do we send you the screentest? It's Fun Time Please?
[17:54] cstrife311: Do you like films?
[17:54] musicadonum: I do.
[17:54] cstrife311: Yes, FTP is how I have all my subjects send video for analysis.
[17:55] musicadonum: We need to connect to it to send the file, how do you propose we do that?
[17:55] cstrife311: Do you really want me to give you all the answers? I thought you were all so smart. Remember...this is just the simple beginning of your journey.
[17:56] musicadonum: Oh, we are smarter than I think you anticipate.
[17:56] cstrife311: I guess we will see.
[17:56] musicadonum: What about you? Do we get to see your screentest?
[17:57] cstrife311: I am the creator. I have no need to risk testing myself.
[17:57] musicadonum: Very well.
[17:58] cstrife311: I need to find somebody....I can trust.
[17:59] cstrife311: Its just too bad Jeff didn't work out.
[17:59] musicadonum: Well as your video has shown us he's not completely OUT of the picture.
[18:00] cstrife311: Let me assure you, Jeff is dead.
[18:00] cstrife311: You only saw his screen test.
[18:00] cstrife311: well, the mid analysis portion.
[18:01] cstrife311: I hope you have an enjoyable day. I am quite busy with this program right now. I do intend to see you soon. I would really like to see you.
[18:02] musicadonum: As soon as I can connect to your ftp, the sooner you will.
[18:02] cstrife311: Good day music.
[18:02] musicadonum: And you Dan.

Wow. a lot has happened since I was shotgunning. well, I don't think I can send a pic- mum would kill me. Besides, I'm not helping that much- not that smart. Embarassed and, i dont think it would help- I'm not a fan of his like Dan says- As soon as I'd see him- BOOM- 2 .45's in each shin.

I just sent Dan an Email.

The FTP site comes and goes, and even when it's up there's no way to connect, I emailed this to Dan.

Dan,

How are we supposed to play when the ftp will not connect. Remember I've agreed to play, but I can't play by myself.

I don't think this was posted yet - this was in an Embed tag on the play page:
http://www.bullerman.net/smartpeople.mov
Not sure yet what it's good for though. It seems to be just a whooshy sound played forward then backwards. Was it meant to play when the page loaded? The player shows up as 1 pixel after the word screentest on the page.

Good catch, but this is just the sound that plays in the background. I think he means something by simple beginning.

feels like the next thing we have to do is find that website that JB is talking about. I've looked at the source code like twenty times on bullerman.net and it's completely clear. I wish there was some way to get to the index of a website. Anyone have a clue?
Has anyone checked to see if theres an FTP server or file transfer service running on the web site? The page says he is going to set up a way to transfer files. I've run the website through nmap (a Linux program that checks a server for open ports), found that ports 21 (FTP), 22 (SSH), 25 (SMTP, for sending e-mail), 26 (very strange to see this one, it identifies itself as an e-mail server, then switches the prompt to look like an FTP server), port 110 (POP3, for receiving e-mail) and 143 (IMAP4, for receiving e-mail). are open and accepting incoming requests. The FTP server is locked down though.

anyone know how this works? PM if you're reading this (and after another back story catch up, I know you are.) Checking your ports could be invasive, and I certainly don't want to be invasive. Just know we won't go that far again.

On a seperate note, he brought up number's.... 3,4. maybe port 34 for the ftp, I'll try it.

EDIT: Won't connect, I have cyberduck and it won't connect to those, i may need a user/pass. I'll give this time, I imagine there will be clues.

Well, I got my little vid done... Confused

I tried uploading it last night with no success. I was trying to use port 80, which is password protected. For the user/password I used jeff/transcendental and it let me connect. I couldn't get my vid to upload though. I'm not sure what the problem was with that or whether it was a problem with my ftp client (Smart ftp) or their ftp server.

Oh man, I have no idea. I don't think we've encountered any girls in this game yet. There has to be something we're missing. He's not telling us because it's out there for us to find, but we can't find it! Arg!
