btw, Shawnigan Lake School is puuuuuuuurty!

Also, there is a (maybe intentional, maybe not) clue about what the real name for this game is since AAP was basically just the beta name for it:

We'll talk about SLA's game mechanics while avoiding any particular aspects regarding the story the players are being confronted with.

So, what exactly does SLA stand for? Save the Lost Awlyn?

Mikey posted a new blog post (not sure when).

Nothing special. Included is a picture of a playground.

Yeah that was a while back. You can read more about it in the Puzzle thread.

Well, Diego managed to get some brief Internet access anyway and posted up a new video Here
I also got a response to the message about helping Mikey from a while back:
Quote:
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I've literally only been online three times (including now) since the twidies at the DC whisked us off to Europe. It looks like you guys took care of Mr. Surry, and I'm glad that he's better. Are you sure he's not mad at Sarah and Isobella for what happened, though? I just hope he's not looking for revenge.

EDIT: And here's what seems to be our "Link" too: http://www.youtube.com/user/theunmissinglink
Found him through a video response to the Masks video 6 days ago.
Plus he's on the Aporia CME Subscriptions list with the others now too Razz

<OT_rant>Um, Vecheeso, you might wanna pull back a little there. The PMs read the forums but so do some of the actors. Do you think they get paid for this? Show a little respect, please.</OT_rant>

Good find, highwind. And now on to the big news: Sarah is missing! And has been for some time, apparently. Details to be posted in the Austin Live Drop thread shortly. ARG

Private Investigator seems like the perfect cover for a kidnapper.
Is this a hint from Diego that Mikey may not be totally forthcoming on exactly who/what he is? I was rerunning through everything last night trying to get caught up on everything, and something Mikey says in his blogs strikes me as odd. He's talked about his son in a couple of posts, but only vaguely and briefly, and mainly while he was affeted by whatever Sarah/Isobella did to him. The really odd thing to me though, was the 'help please' post, about gathering the ritual items. He said:
Quote:
Another person will have to have a pebble which I assume was once held by a boy somewhere to the west, I wish my ex-wife would let me see my son for this.
I immediately thought, hey this guys a former cop, and a PI who takes a special interest in child predators, yet he hasn't worked out visitation with his own son? At the time I just thought it a little weird, but now seeing Diego's new video it seems even more strange. On the other hand though, he stated after he performed the ritual:
Quote:
But I have to tell you - I feel 100% better; in fact, I feel more myself than I have in years.
So, his whole investigations thing could have been a cover for something else, but the ritual may have made him recant and revert back to feelings from years ago. I don't know, it's probably not even important to the bigger picture, it just strikes me as odd and I was wondering if anybody else noticed it. Sorry for the epic post. And while I was posting I see we did get the live drop and details are coming soon. Oh boy.

Yeah I thought the whole situation with Mikey's son was weird, especially after a few of his emails.

Mikey wrote:
I'm actually really excited this week as I will be hand delivering my child support check and being allowed unsupervised visitation with my son for the weekend. I don't guess my ex reads my blogs, but either way I'm really excited.

So normally, his visitation is supervised; usually granted in cases where the parent without custody has a history of violence toward the child or their former spouse. Source
We know Mikey is a recovering alcoholic, and he quit drinking the day he signed the divorce papers. Maybe he has a past of violent alcohol induced rages.

Mikey wrote:
I'm having a wonderful time with my boy. We've been on the go all day, he's actually passed out right now. I'll regret it later since I'm sure he'll wake up right around the time that I'm ready for bed. Don't get to see him very often and when I do I have to spoil him the best I can. I guess that it is kind of like grandparent's syndrome.

Also seems a bit weird. I wonder if Mikey's ex and son will enter the picture as characters at some point. I'm not sure how to get more information from him without coming across...like a dickhead to put it crudely.

Yeah, I actually had said in a chat awhile back that I wouldn't be surprised if Mikey was drinking and not remembering things he's done.

Although...

Diego doesn't know that we are helping Mikey send messages to Amun. For that matter, Diego probably doesn't know that Mikey is sending those messages at all. So, go back and read Mikey's blog from that perspective, and the responses to Amun do seem kinda strange.

Although again...

That whole thing with getting the names and addresses of all the local schoolkids for a mailer still bugs me. Creepy.

You know, I had forgotten about that mailer thing but that was pretty creepy. As soon as Diego mentioned the idea of Mikey being a kidnapper I thought - what if we did all that work to help the bad guy? That would be a twist. But the more I think about it the more I think I trust Diego more than I trust Mikey for some reason. NovaHelix seems pretty creepy too. Wonder if they could be the same person? Shocked

Would schools really just give out their students' mailing addresses like that, though? Confused

I still think Mikey's sincere, but NovaHelix is clearly one of the govt guys. He said he's a scientist (biology degree) in Nevada (Area 51?)... for a second just now I thought "ooh ooh ooh! NovaHelix = Novak??" but isn't Novak in Houston too?

Mikey's custody-limiting infraction could have been something as relatively minor as slapping his wife while he was drunk, or of course it could be something much worse. But since the ritual seems to have "cured" him... I wonder if it also cured him of his alcoholism? Maybe I'll ask when I email him tonight.

This is what I was thinking, but I couldn't remember it was the alcohol thing. If the ritual is some sort of soul reclamation, then it could possibly have 'removed' his 'bad habits' and returned him more to his 'true soul', whatever that is...

Oh as for the school/mailing address thing, I know that some schools - usually private - do create a student directory listing all the kids and their contact info. They're supposed to only be available to faculty and parents though, and I'm not sure if they even still do that, what with all the media hype about abduction and the like... I'd think Dateline has made it pretty obvious that there are lots of child predators out there...

Google Map

For reference, I've been putting stuff on a google map as it came up, and this is what I've got so far: http://tinyurl.com/6kosog

You can zoom in on the tennis courts where Katia & Kelsi were last headed. Not much to see, but still kinda Cool .

I received a new email from Mike today:

Quote:
I'm going to try to find some more information about the novahelix37 that I'm 100% positive took both Katia and Kelsi. Novak should be able to help me there, you might be able to find something though I'm not sure. It would be great if you could though. I'm going to see if there is some information on the girls' computers if I can get their parents to support my investigation.

Again thanks and keep surfing safe,
Mikey Surry

I did a bit of searching around the usual sites and found no novahelix37. I did find a user named novahelix at last.fm, but there wasn't anything on the page to suggest that it was IG. Perhaps we should check the popular IM clients since that seems to be how the girls communicated with him. I added him to my AIM a few days ago and haven't seen anyone.
