Listening to: Whitechapel - This is Exile (aaaaaaaaaaaaamazing)

that cant be good... anywho who's genre is whitechapel?

listening to: Fuel-quarter (really good modern band)

It is actually a pretty good album. Especially for a deathcore band. Whitechapel are one of the very few out of that style that I enjoy. I haven't listened through the new album all that much yet, but I'm liking what I hear, to my surprise.

I like THAT Fuel song, and a couple others, but generally don't like the band. Too many songs killed by radio. Solace is another song by them I really like.

Listening to: Carcass - Child's Play (how did I not know about this band until now? this shit is amazing)

Whitechapel is playing with unearth in a show coming up. I can't make myself see it because of the other bands going, but those 2 should make the ticket interesting. Still looking forward to Thrash and Burn Tour FARRRR more.

Listening to: D12 - 6 in the Morning

Ya, I'd imagine Unearth and Whitechapel would most likely tour with some shitty bands. metalcore is REALLY starting to piss me off. I can't believe new bands are STILL coming out playing that mediocre shit.

Who's playing thrash and burn?

Just found out about 2 great shows coming my way next month.
Baroness with Genghis Tron for $17, and Carcass are reuniting for a tour (conveniently right as a start listening to them) coming around early next month. Not time to book that one off work so I'll just have to call in sick I guess. haha.

Listening To: Carass - Firm Hand

Thrash and Burn tour may contain some bands that piss you off, but i'm really looking forward to it. Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, Misery Signals, Stick to Your Guns, Winds of Plague, Arsis, Light this City, Arsonists get all the Girls (not looking forward to them), Abigail Williams, After the Burial, and special guests As Blood Runs Black (w00t) for my show. Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, Winds of Plague, Abigail Williams, and As Blood Runs Black all get my penis hard, so this show should be legit.

I can't say I hate any of them, I haven't even heard half of 'em. haha. I'm presuming Parkway Drive is a little homo-gay from the picture I saw of them in Revolver, but other than that sounds good. I'm starting to really like Arsis, and Darkest Hour is always good shit. Misery Signals new album is pretty good to from what I've heard. Produced by Devin townsend, so there must be something good in there. haha.

A couple of the bands on there that I've heard of I'd assume are metalcore-ish, but it sounds like it's definitely worth checking out. That an all day festival type deal?

(funny about the name Thrash and Burn, there aren't any thrash metal bands in the line up. haha)

Listening To: Beck - Volcano

Parkway drive have all the stereotypes of bad metalcore, but musicwise they create some good (albeit not incredibly original) shit. One of my fav bands for sure, especially lyrics-wise. It's like they write an incredibly emo song and then dip it in violence. Case in point: the song "Romance is Dead." The most emo song title, right? Yet the lyrics tell another story, making fun of emos in the process: "She said goodbye. So cry me a fucking river bitch. You wouldn't know love if it crushed you fucking chest. Let go."
As for there being no thrash, that is dead on. It makes me laugh too. The funny part is i read when they were putting it together, darkest hour was their first pick to headline. Now i love darkest hour, but they don't have one ounce of thrash within them since perhaps their first album. Ah well, should be a damn good show (and to answer your question, yes a festival) nonetheless.

I was gonna say, Darkest Hour have some thrash to them. 'They Will Outlive Us' is pretty much a thrash song, and there's more I can't remember right now.

No big festivals headed this way. I probably missed Mayhem tour with Slipknot, Mastodon and Machine Head. I'd love to see those 3 again, but if it means they get to play for 20 min so Disturbed can have more time on stage I'm not interested.

Can't wait for Baroness and Genghis Tron. It's a very esoteric show to me, none of my friends listen to those bands at all (except my girlfriend who loves Baroness but hates goin to concerts). I'm draggin one of my buddies to it, basically to force those bands upon him. I'm sure by the end of the night he'll be a huge fan. He's very suggestible. haha. And since they're relative no name bands I can probably pickup some merch deadly cheap. Excited.

Plus Carcass reunion show is on Sept. 8. Never heard them before a few weeks ago and now it's all I can listen to. Not as unlistenably brutal as I expected, there's a lot of great melody to it too. I guess I should've known since their guitar player formed Arch Enemy that they'd have some great hooks along with the heaviness, but I never assumed I'd like them as I much as I do.

Just cause there was a lot of back and forth about this banda while back in the thread, I thought I'd add, since I now know, that new Slipknot is good. Very good. Not the best album of the year, but definitely within the top 10-20.

I can't wait to hear it. Unlike just about every leaked album, i can't talk myself into downloading it though. I'm just going to buy it on the release date, so it's just THAT much more sweet.

Plus i wanna have slipknot before my camping trip coming up. good road music.

Then slipknot album on monday, thrash and burn tour wednesday, just picked up a few grams yesterday...looks like its panning out to be a damn good week.

Nice, that does sound like a decent weekend. Mine's not shaping up so well. Well my girlfiend told me there's a surprise for me after she's off work on Sat, but I asked and it's not sex, bummer. hahah.

Camping's next weekend, just 3 of us dudes. Had to make the joke to them "I dunno... 3 guys alone in the woods, sounds kinda gay". haha. Just friday till sunday. get to enjoy the last day of the long weekend at home.

I actually checked out a few of those thrash and burn bands, and there's at least one that I really like. They're called After The Burial. Not something I would normally look into (their name is pretty boring), but they've got at least a few great songs. Check out 'Aspiration' if you get the chance. It's melodic and very catchy, but still heavy and low. No lame-o emo singing like I was expecting. i liked the song so much I was biting my nails up until the end cause it sounds like some gay singing could bust through at any minute. haha. but nope, it's good shit. (If you want it for free google Deathcore Is Sexy. That's all I'll say)

Oh yeah, and the new Metallica song is ridiculous. Sounds like they have A.D.D., still pretty damn good though.

I think that's the only band i haven't checked out yet, haha. They're playing first so i just kinda figured they'd be terrible. I'll take a look when i get home.
As for metallica, i can't do it. I've said it before, but st. anger scarred me. And the fact that lars is a complete fuck-up just ruined it for me. It's black album or bust for me, i can't stand any of their recent shit.

Ya, that band is definitely worth checking out. Not the usual boring shit I seem to be finding with new metal(core?) bands. Some of it may be, I haven't listened to the entire album yet, but I love that one song.

Man, Apartment 26, I haven't listened to them in years. I used to love the hell outa that song. The whole album isn't great (there's one song on there that incredibly terrible, the one with the chick singer). but there were a lot of songs i liked. Maybe I'll pull that CD out again soon.

BTW, that surprise was she bought tickets to Evil Dead: The Musical. I hate musicals, but man that was fun.
