The game mentioned time travel? I must have missed that somewhere.

Time travel is one of the specs as to how Melissa ended up in the present day... supported by a Halos' third novel, which features an object capable of distorting time and space.

Ah I see.. Haven't read the novels. I guess I should. Razz

Sounds to me like Jjaro tech though..

Side Thought: What if the Axons represent Orbital satellites?

another view of Dana's blog

"The Killer appears to have withdrawn from the field. I have data processes tracking her, but she appears to have physically escaped from me."

This is in Dana's blog, and as I read this for the umpteenth time, it dawned on me. If Melissa has data processes tracking Dana, then she
knows were she is... if you follow my reasoning, she isn't looking for Dana, she is tracking her,(following, tracking device, etc)and she has only escaped her Physically, whatever this means. I would be interested in verifying some Shanghai co_ords with the places that Dana has listed in her blog(Mr. Donut), and that garden. I also find it interesting that Dana uses Halo-verse Dialogue in her Blog, the olly, olly phrase. I could be way off and I know some of this has been mentioned before, but going off Dana's blog more due to the subtle hints..

I will research myself as I have time, might take till the weekend.

later,

Chooch

It's not just Haloverse; it's a fairly well-known real world reference to hide and seek. Anyway, good luck with your endeavours.

The IP theory is an interesting one, but there just seems to be too much uncertainty in how one would convert these numbers (or pairs) to IP addresses. Still, I may have a look at that.

Any other ways that these numbers could be unrelated to the GPS co-ordinates we think they represent?

Forerunners of the Haloverse seem very similar to the Jjaro of the Marathonverse.

This is a total guess, but here's an attempt to paraphrase and prioritize:
paraphrasing what drizjr & Extrasonic sed: wrote:

1.What are the Queen's motives for these "roads"?

A. To build a field-expedient body. Melissa's first goal seems to be to escape her current situation.

B. To seek the Truth. Flea has made this imperative, and maybe conflicting with A for top spot.

C. To grow beyond the confines of ilovebees.com. Seem necessary to achieve the above.

D. To find The Killer/Dana. Melissa isn't about to get wiped again. She's pissed, she's out for blood and she thinks Dana is enough of a threat to possibly impede A-C.

I couldn't find "field-expedient body" in the Monologue, but I like how it sounds Smile

The P3 Monologue ends in part with this:

Quote:
I am now overseeing // the process of my own regeneration into a hybrid body, hideous perhaps, but one that better suits the circumstances and the // law.

Crreeeeepy.

What else do we know Queen is capable of doing (at least in her full self):

1) Filter massive amounts of information (slipstream transmissions, decodes, etc)
2) Perform espionage/counter-espionage.
3) Use processes like SPDR/Flea to retrieve memories. Perhaps more generic forms of information as well.
4) Interact with devices even remotely associated with her network (Dana's webcam)
5) Adapt to new environments

hrm. I feel my wheels spinning here Neutral

oh and of course part of A seems to be building a voice, which she's already shown the beginnings of.

It has been indirectly stated, but nobody seems to have pointed out that Texas is back on the map. One more anomaly down the tubes.

possible trout, but...

The new coordinates and times seem to suggest an east-to-west motion across the continent, with an interval of three or four minutes between each site. What else moves over the continent in an east-to-west motion?

THE SUN!

Anyone have a way of checking the groundspeed of the sun as it travels between coordinates? (I know it varies depending on latitude. I'd calculate it myself, but my math skills are insufficient.) If the interval it takes for noon to arrive between each of the coordinates matches the interval between times for the axons, we may have an important clue.

Just thought I'd throw this idea out before you guys run to each site on the 24th looking for pay phones. Smile

i thought of this same idea...only problem is i dont think the times progress evenly, and not only that, the times are different. its only a three hour difference (four maybe?) between east and west coast...not twelve as is suggested here...

I have a dim, dim recollection from an old science class that a given point on the Earth moves at approximately 19 miles per second relative to the sun.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/files/location_list.html

It's a pretty meandering sun ... it goes from DC to Ohio back to NY, down around Alabama...back to DC, over to Chicago, later back to DC again...

I don't think this is going specifically in a compass direction.

I just downloaded an app called MyStars. It allows you to enter coordinates, a date and a time, and then shows you what you will see in the sky at that exact time from that location. I entered a few of the revised coordinates along with the new times, and 24th Aug as the date.

After the fifth one gave the same result, I started to think I might be on to something. What you would be able to see in the sky is a cluster of stars called M44, or NGC2632.

It's also known as The Beehive Cluster Surprised

Any astronomers know anything about it?

Sigh. So many possibilities, so little time.

With this change to the puzzle, I think my Census idea is right out. Still, I might get to work on that if nothing else major comes up for me to sink my teeth into.

Has anyone considered seeing which stars would be at the zenith at each location at the appropiate time? Bosshogg, can My Stars do that? Is that what you are talking about in the above post?

Luke P.

edit- Sorry for this completely superfluous post. Looks like I may've trouted.

I think the light finally dawned on me. Melissa is using the stars to navigate, as she said when she was delirious.

Quote:
"Stars, I need stars. I was always a fine sailor; they said my navigation was celestial."

Quote:
"At night in the Earth's southern hemisphere, run an imaginary line along the axis of the Southern Cross to extend out about five times the length of that axis. Any landmark directly under that imaginary point will be in the general direction of south."

Perhaps she's trying to find out where she is?

{edit}I did actually check the MyStars thing - you can indeed see the BeeHive Cluster, but it's not centred exactly.{/edit}

Wild Spec: These Axons come in pairs right? And a Axon is refered to as being a line?

What if we took a map of the Axons and drew a straight line through each pair of axons from one border of the US to the other? Maybe many of these "lines" intersect..
