Because my eyes aren't what they used to be, is the handwritten word night or is it right?

I found a website that had a free ADFGVX application and decoded the message there. The horrible part is having to type it all out, because if you miss one letter the translation becomes nonsense. Also, sorry for any spacing issues in the translation. The program makes you find the breaks and I know I missed a few. Quite frustrating. But it was well worth the hassle to get the new files.

Very good. What was the website? I love ciphers and would like to check it out.

did a bit of digging for that cipher as well, and came across this one, which (I'm assuming) uses a predefined alphabet, which is why we didn't need one (night was the transposition key)
http://courses.gdeyoung.com/pages/encryption/ADFGVX.php
it only needs the ciphertext and the key. I'm guessing the alphabet was one that was actually used in WW1 (seems to be what that page is hinting at)

This is the link to the one I used (which appears to be the same as thebruce's link):

There's really a lot of interesting info on the web about this stuff. Makes me really respect the people who originally had to crack this kind of cipher.
Also, did anyone else notice that we get Danby's test results on Friday this week? Does that mean we'll be getting another puzzle on Friday too?

He seems to be in la-la land about what is going on. He doesn't relize that eventhough he has been helping in the lab, he is still a test subject.

At least he isn't stressing about him.
I kinda like this guy.
