Pardon me if I'm being blind here, but has anyone tried to contact the Corp. via their "Contact Us" addresses? I just sent out an e-mail to their public relations guy, Garrett Carlson. Basically I just asked if I could have any additional information on the company, said they had a noble mission, etc. I'll post if I get a response.

Bartok: I clicked on the cutoff symbols, and they just took me to the different portions of the site (Catalogue, Contact Us, etc). And their choice of language in the mission makes me think they build robots...they use the term "products" several times, which makes me disinclined to believe they use living things.

Also: I clicked on the dash above the line and got a 404 Rolling Eyes .

-.html now leads to a 404 in all browsers. Glad someone snagged the text of it; I have a feeling we may not see it again.

Has anyone replied to R's post in the Phantom forum? No one seems to have done a reply-all, though I'm about to.

Well, in fFairness, Jinteki does mean "Human" or "relating to humanity," so it's a fFair cop.

But, yes, if humans get to do the arts and crafts and fFun stuff, then who is doing all the work? Who are the non-humans? Actual non-humans? or perhaps a lower class of people? speculation mongering abides.

The "new" logo on the homepage (it has a white bar under it) is messed with...I think. Can somebody who has access to GIMP/Photoshop take a look at it? I think the "noise" (whatever that means) needs to be fiddled with.

Also...it might be stegged? The original .bmp is 241k...which seems like a lot for one image D: Camouflage didn't bring up anything...unless it needs a password.

That's what I figured, as I noticed there were boxes there when I was tabbing through the site. I just wasn't sure what they were for as I use Firefox at home, and the site doesn't seem to be Firefox/Safari friendly.

I've tried adding/reducing the noise level in photoshop, but it doesn't yield any particular results. Confused I think there's certainly something hidden in the image though..!

Does anyone remember what image was there before? Might help if we had the original to extract the noise that has been added. Alternatively a quick search for 'image noise steganography' brings up a few windows apps:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/security/steganodotnet.aspx

being the most notable. Could someone running Windoh's have a look with some of these?

You legend!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

fk = function key or similar?

http://jintekicorp.com/cgi-bin/genome-db.pl?id=humanity

If you're reading this, I'm dead. I saw something Jinteki didn't want anyone to see. What you're reading now is my insurance. If something happens to me, I've rigged some computer programs to release my data files to the net. I can't do too much at once, or IS will notice and purge the system. If you want to expose Jinteki for the murdering scum they are, then keep your head down and gather up the data I've left behind. Don't be too obvious, or Jinteki will catch on and shut you down. I've encrypted everything to try and obscure the trail a bit more, but if you talk to anyone else about this, do it on the Phantom forum. I've rigged it to be invisible to Jinteki. For the next step, I'm going to have my Secretary agent vet you out and see if you're okay, so you'll need to email your contact email to alice at jintekicorp.com. If you check out, you'll hear from me again on the 3rd of September.

I emailed aliceSPLATjintekicorp.com.

Nice solve! I sent in my contact info to the address.

In terms of the picture...I don't have the original, but I had an idea. Maybe "n01se" doesn't refer to an image, but maybe literal noise? Either that, or the "01" has something to do with the encryption.

What do you mean 'literal noise'? I took a look at it in the GIMP and messed about with the image a bit and there are a few bits that are a bit odd in that its a pretty simple image but there are a lot of asymmetry around the central logo. Of course that could just be some artifacts of whatever process they used to create this version of the logo or the compression algorithm but still...

EDIT: The 'noise' seems to be pretty much identical between all 3 channels... not sure if thats significant.

I'm wondering if "n01se" is referring to a binary code of some kind. (01)

I just took a look at the 'Phantom' forum. If you look at the info for that forum, the admins are 'admin' and 'n01se'. In fact they are admin on all the forums... so maybe there is nothing special about this image - it was just made by Mr n01se.
Did a quick look around for ppl calling themselves 'n01se' but apparently half the internet is doing it Rolling Eyes

Very possible - but it seems strange that the current logo is slightly rasterized and also includes the empty white box at the bottom now.

Also, opening the image in an application like Photoshop gives you the following error: Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found.

The image is a Windows Bitmap Image and I know there are ways of converting bitmaps into hexidecimal or binary code. (If you know programming languages...) Might be worth a look.
