There's a phone number that I can see when I hover over the 'magic ham' on the bracket page: http://www.silverladder.com/bracket.htm.

(206) 279-8173.

Is this new? Old?

That number is old. It used to have messages from Piginabeard on it but it seems to belong to someone else now.

I can't say for sure it is new as in this week, but I am positive it was not there for the Beginning of HamWar. If you want me to call it and see what heppens I will, but I am not very quick on my feet when it comes to speaking on the phone.

The number belongs to a real person now it seems. It was originally put on the hamwar page as a bonus for whomever found it first. They received +10 harmys maybe?

In response to my asking if it is FLYnn that has been defaced, changed, vandalized:

In another message I told him (re: defacement and vandalism):

which reminds me of my first sleep over birthday party. The girls went crazy and my Dad thought it would be a good time to re-read Lord fo the Flies Smile

In another message I told tranny2:

Lord of the Flies, a rather good book. I guarantee that's the reference, unless it happens to be just another coincidence.

Not sure why he'd be referencing that though. 's about a buncha' kids that get shipwrecked and they end up basically going nuts and end up killing one another.

.. the Deck? Heh.

addition The title is said to be a reference to the Hebrew name Beelzebub (בעל זבוב, Ba'al-zvuv, "god of the fly", "host of the fly" or literally "Lord of Flies"), a name sometimes used as a synonym for Satan.

-- from Wikipedia.

Also possibly worth mentioning that one of the man characters is named 'Piggy'.

Oh Dagummit, I read that book in 6th grade.

The kids all start worshiping a dead pig head they named "Lord of the Flies" and yeah, they break into tribes and start warring. Naughty boys.

So, who is our lord of the flies and are the tribes deck and Korp? (Korp alienated themselves from the deck or split into a separate tribe.)

Or are the Passengers now one or bot of the tribes?

Or is this referring to a current split within either Korp or the Deck? (Saul and Flynn's defection per se)

Oh and Beelzebub was also a Philistine Diety, not necessarily evil and was Lord of all that Fly. When Christianity took over, they changed the meaning in order to paganize it.

Oh I can take this so much deeper..................

I am spiraling now.

I hadn't read lord of the flies in forever so I found a summary. Here are the good parts:

Quote:
The boys succeed in igniting some dead wood by focusing sunlight through the lenses of Piggy's eyeglasses. However, the boys pay more attention to playing than to monitoring the fire, and the flames quickly engulf the forest. A large swath of dead wood burns out of control, and one of the youngest boys in the group disappears, presumably having burned to death.

and

Quote:
Later, encountering the bloody, fly-covered head, Simon has a terrible vision, during which it seems to him that the head is speaking. The voice, which he imagines as belonging to the Lord of the Flies, says that Simon will never escape him, for he exists within all men.

I sent the last part of that second quote to Tranny2 and he replied with:

HELTER SKELTER

Wikipedia wrote:
McCartney was inspired to write the song after reading a 1967 Guitar Player magazine interview with The Who's Pete Townshend where he described their latest single, "I Can See for Miles," as the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song The Who had ever recorded. McCartney then "wrote 'Helter Skelter' to be the most raucous vocal, the loudest drums, et cetera" and said he was "using the symbol of a helter skelter as a ride from the top to the bottom—the rise and fall of the Roman Empire—and this was the fall, the demise." In British English, the term helter-skelter not only has its meanings of "confused" or "confusedly" but is the name of a spiraling amusement park slide. McCartney has used this song as a response to critics who accuse him of only writing ballads. John Lennon stated that Helter Skelter is "Paul's completely ... It has nothing to do with anything, and least of all to do with me."
