I am actually finding a lot of referenced to jackson Rake ion the intertoobs. And I don't mean the yard rake.

A lot of them are dead links now but I am getting a better idea of who he WAS.

As soon as I have anything concrete, I will post it.

Remember me, anyone? I was the "King Of Baboon Politics," with a soap box and a tiny little personal PA system? I had a bullhorn too, and I kept talking about how, "I believe in electricity. I BELIEVE in cheap cosmetics. I BELIEVE in the strip mall." Anyway, it was a blast, as always. Much love to all my brothers from The Plastic Family.

Silver Ladder Radio is an independent, free-form Internet pirate
radio station broadcast using a pre-recorded show in MP3 format. Most
often, music will be
played on Silver Ladder Radio... ranging from Grant Lee Buffalo
to Led Zeppelin to Miles Davis to Trance Induction, and including
everything in between.
Occasionally, Silver Ladder Radio will feature talk radio
segments, and even live music performances. We are still in the very
early stages of broadcasting, so
much remains to be seen (and heard). The (approximately) one-hour
show will most likely be updated once a month, or whenever I get
around to it. Feel free
to download and distribute. The RIAA will love you for it.

Silver Ladder Radio is encoded in MP3 format due to the fact that
it is a common format that is far superior to many of the alternatives
(RealAudio, etc.). The
show is encoded at 96kbps, which has proven to be a happy medium.
96k allows us to give you the show in an audio quality that is better
than a standard FM
broadcast received on a radio, yet it does not make the files so
large that they take forever to load (which is why the show is not
encoded at 128kbps/CD
quality). With a DSL or cable connection, the show should
download quickly (if you're choosing to save it to your hard drive)
and should also stream quite
smoothly if streamed directly from the site.

The focus of Silver Ladder Radio is to play the really good music
that "real" radio stations overlook. In a world of tightly-formatted,
boring, record
company-pimped, cookie-cutter radio stations, so much good music
falls by the wayside while swill like Limp Bizkit and *N Sync ends up
in heavy rotation. I
know. I live in Phoenix, the 7th largest city in the nation, and
I can personally tell you the airwaves here are a wasteland of "new"
country (read-- not real
country, but pop-country crap like Shania Twain... stuff that
would make Johnny Cash spit), bling-bling urban ghettofab pimp music
(read-- stuff that would
make Chuck D spit), a million rap-rock bands that all sound like
each other (and that all sound like Limp Bizkit), a million rock bands
that want to be Creed,
and the aforementioned producer-written prefab pop garbage like
*N Sync, Britney Spears, and the Backstreet Boys. I think Jewel is
involved somewhere too,
but I haven't quite figured out where. Meanwhile, great creative
artists like Grant Lee Buffalo, Caroline's Spine, Sunny Day Real
Estate, Stavesacre, Flaming
Lips, Ween, Air, etc. are putting out excellent music that most
people will never hear. That is the purpose of Silver Ladder Radio--
to play you the good stuff
that you might not hear otherwise. That is not to say that we
won't play major label artists or even fairly popular songs from time
to time. It's just that the idea
behind the show is to give people something entertaining to
listen to, with a core of great music that doesn't really get airplay.

Having said that, I'm trying to keep things fun and not take this
too seriously. This is, after all, something I do because I enjoy it.
If you like it as well, send me
email and let me know, and most of all... tell people about it.
Please pass the site address on to anyone who you think would enjoy
the show. Thanks. .
