[SPEC] Group Assignment Theories

Ok as these seem to be running through several of the other threads I thought it would be worth having one specific for it...

I haven't fully decided yet, but I'm tending towards randomness, and here's my killer question why:
Has anyone's group ever changed?

None of mine have ever changed, and I don't think anyone else has had theirs change either.

You know, it makes you wonder why they even have groups in the first place if they are random. I mean, if they weren't random, surely the hive-mind that is the ARG player community would have figured out a pattern to the assignments by now. I hate to say this, but if there is no point to the groupings except for illusory TINAG purposes, then it is a horrible implementation. Confused

I'm probably dreaming, but I really hope that these references to Greek names are connected somehow to a certain four-toed statue. Very Happy

I am sure there is....it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the island was moved around the planet many times....being a Greek isle, maybe a Caribbean island, probably even Atlantis. Obviously at some point it was probably an Aleutian Island--polar bears anyone?

What bugs me is the departure from what I *thought* was a pattern:

Test 1: "space" bar; moons (also characters from myths)
Test 2: "i" (aka "eye"); cyclops (ditto)
Test 3: "lento" (aka tempo); giants (mythological sure, but what does it have to do with "lento"???)

I do expect there to be a group named for the Muses, but wouldn't you think that would be a better pairing with "lento" than the giants are? Makes me think there is something else in play here....or uninspired planning. Not sure which yet. Rolling Eyes

I was thinking lentio with giants, as in 'lumbering giants', or just the fact that giants would relatively speaking, move slower (and I'm thinking giant giants, not just 7-7 1/2 foot giants). But apparently allegro also works, making the balls move faster. So it does look to have to do with tempo, making me think the subject matter may be 'music', but that doesn't connect with the giants... so... I dunno Razz

Free translating, "lento" means "slow", and "allegro" means "happy".

in music allegro means rapid/fast (or, a 'happy pace' in a sense)
