HAha yeah I probably should but LOST is too much fun. And it deserves a bit of obsessiveness Wink

EDiT: and we are going to have to stick him in Room 23 for a while...

Now that's a good idea !! I tried to get him to help me with my test scores but alas, he would not. I did get him to watch the whole seasons 1-4 over with me this summer lol I did find some short cuts as well in the test taking but not many !

The whole "points for recruiting" is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Rewarding viral marketing done by the players. So the company getting paid to provide this promotion doesn't have to do much work in acquiring new players. And they didn't think the type of internet geek who loves this stuff would figure out how to jack the system? So instead they are going to get artifically inflated numbers to report back to their clients ("we have x million users registered" to count for their market saturation but we know it's really x million divided by, oh, I dunno, 1000 due to how easy it is to create dummy accounts).

I hate it when any ARG makes that requirement upon you for playing (recruiting more players). Folks who really enjoy an experience or get naturally excited about a story/ARG will share with their friends and naturally encourage more players.

I'm still going to play along with the tests to see where they go (they are good timewasters right now) and I'm curious how this might fit into the next season of the tv show, but I'm not going to create more fake accounts just to inflate my Dharma points. Too much work.

I can't fault you for feeling this way. My opinion of this aspect has ranged from wtf to ho-hum. For now, I do not feel this is a requirement at all, which might help ease the tension. A good ARG does include optional side quests, and it seems that some players are actually enjoying the challenge. The fact that they can "game the system" by recruiting themselves with dummy accounts makes it much less of a spam tool, and no actual viral marketing is being rewarded. (Well, at first it might have gotten a few new eyeballs to join, but now I think we've saturated the field.)

Pick and choose what you want to do, cheat on the tests or not, go for the leaderboard or not, heck, you can play the tests without even giving them your email. Overall, I think we'll all still get fed the same bonus content, and everyone can customize their own experience. It's actually looking up for me.

well, it seems that the hack to get extra Dharma points was fixed by Hoodlum. I finally figured it out and they went and fixed it. I'm so bummed !
