TWI site confirms that it is the next symbol and associated with the Esmeralda
Well I didn't think it would turn out to be a symbol but, looks like we have our 6th one now!
I thought they would have opened up the next puzzle by now but will probably be tomorrow......or whenever I'm offline!!!

I wouldn't count on it being up that soon after the last one. The pace of this arg has been fairly slow and steady (I solved the first puzzle at the beginning of June and we only just solved puzzle 7). In any case I'm excited to see what happens next

Hey diskjunkie welcome to the site.
We are at the same point you are. I only started playing this a week or 2 ago myself. I found reading this thread and at http://www.whatisthewhiteisland.com/story/story.html helped me get an idea what has been happening.
You just need to keep an idea on the different in game sites and your emails to see if there has been any new developments

Updates!
Check out the www.whatisthewhiteisland.com weblog (direct linking doesn't work, so click and go there yourself).
In short, there were a few videos shown last Friday, on the Flaunt TV 'The White Island Takeover'.
First, Sarah shouts out for help to find Elisabeth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5IgHzi9-V8
Next, three videos that were taken from Elisabeth's blog were shown as 'pirate interruptions':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ZMAiNSCgM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ieo_9lxi_QI
Orumax aired their commercial too! You can watch it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0mMO2oem8Q
There is a 'new' video up on www.thewhiteisland.com too!
http://www.thewhiteisland.com/homepage.php
Have fun watching them. (;
At this point, I don't notice anything else new.
UPDATE!
BBC is on it too!

konashark, watching a BBC feed in his Afghanistan "cell" (his room), heard about this and sent me the link (not knowing that I recognized it from this thread even though I'm not following it).
He thought it was cool to be hearing about it and knowing what an ARG is. Then he went straight to the meta site and made sure to give it to me in chat this morning.
I have trained him well.

My google-fu is failing me today. Any ideas as to where in particular that video is from and what for a festival/parade it is?

Looks like it may be traditional Ibiza folk dancing of some sort.

A little more about folk dancing:

...must be folk dancing in front of the church at San Miguel on Ibiza, I think.
http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/villages/san_miguel_i.htm
There is also an old smugglers cave: "Cova de San Marca"
Probably this is interesting for our investigations.
Here are some pictures of this place:

Ok, i'm flying out to Ibiza on Sunday for a week so internet will be limited. I'm staying near the strip were Cafe mambo is but am guessing the book seen in the video was a prop rather than us to obtain more info from. So think I asking to see it will only give me puzzled looks.
I can not promise what condition I'm going to be in but may head to ibiza town where the museum is. I dont think there will be anything else to progress the game but might be something good to see.
Regards to the latest on the brotherhood pages. All i can find is that its folk dancing which seems to be called ball pages. Check out 2/3 down of this page

A new puzzle!
Go to the new '360' page (which isn't a heavy 360 rotation script anymore yay!), and click the image with the red map or whatever it is. Then try to figure out whatever the words should be (no, I'm not telling what it should be because it's way too easy!), and watch the animation. =)
Also, this might be of interest.
The Antonio Perleamo page has been revamped too!

If you solve the latest word puzzle at thewhiteisland it should allow you to enter the brotherhoods latest page and learn more about Esmeralda and also the new page called the vault at http://www.antonioperleamo.com/
