This last batch of emails made me think of Kingdom Hospital.

There are some similarities.

Oh man Kingdom Hospital was great. And I totally see where you are coming from. A little girl, a wrongful death, talking to a guy in a coma (communication in sleep), and old hospital, a fire...lots of parallels. Could be that the PMs got some inspiration from it.

Seriously, how adorable was that little girl?

Waitress, it definitely reinforces for me the idea that mona lisa died in one of the fires at Byberry. Thanks for making the connection--a Stephen King connection is not at all surprising.

response from echo

i asked echo "was margaret strangled?"

he replied:
Quote:
illness

took breath

throat struggles frightened child

So I think Tresbien was right a few posts back that Margaret seemed to die of an illness, but there's something to do with choking, or at least "throat struggles."

Ahh, there's so much work I want to do but I've gotta go to bed!

P.S. FWIW, I loaded the *original* image of the hallway in photoshop and increased the brightness just to compare it to the other hallway.jpg image. Again, nothing too illuminating as far as I can see.

I also tried "eeeeee" and "555555" as passwords to the voicemail from the phone number and got nowhere.

One last thing: As a longshot I took a few variations of what the numbers read in mataleon.mp3 could be and tried some alphabetical substitutions but nothing was apparent after 10 or so minutes.

Currently...

Just out of curiosity, and for any newcomers, what should we be working on right now? What needs our attention other than finding out who/what mona lisa is?

I'd say it would be useful to have newcomers review what's been done to date and see what additional info can be gleaned from the audio and visual clues. Our transcripts of the mp3s are incomplete. We never figured out the meaning of the blue static image, and I think there's got to be something more to this than we know: http://www.voicesinthestatic.com/sleep.htm. And keep asking echo and margaret questions.

I dropped one to echo too...asking whos echoes he/it is, and from how long ago. Might get a response tonight (only 9:45 on the West Coast) and we have heard Seatle bounced around a bit.

Also, Hurricane Electric Internet Services is based in California so...

one more (small) kingdom connection

i hate to fixate on the character from the kingdom, but according to this cached page, Lona Massingale was a sleep doctor and psychologist.

link to search of lona massingale

One last thing for the night (I swear). I split both bluestat.gif and static.gif into all of their frames. Instead of posting them here I just uploaded them:

I've stared and stared and haven't seen anything yet. I think my EVP skills are weak!

I don't think that this has been mentioned before, but the link on the trailhead page http://voicesinthestatic.com/ to the second page http://www.voicesinthestatic.com/sleep.htm is a very small dot with a dash under it. It's in the upper left hand corner.
You can see it if you increase the text size and then hit "select all".
dot dash would be E T .

Just to gather all the decoded Morse text from each page together, so far we have:

E

Email from Echo and...
No hits on that number in metaleon.mp3

Updates, updates:

I'm not entirely sure if 206-478-9910 is related to Echo and Margaret (this is what I meant when I said connected, I did the whole reverse cell search beforehand but mine did not list the cell company just that it was valid). I do think it's odd that the three times I've called it's gone to voicemail, but that could just be time differences. I also did try calling 206-478-9917, but that was an invalid number.

I thought maybe the extra numbers were a passcode to receive messages. Wasn't sure if I heard 69 times 97 or 69 times 90 either, but both equate to a four digit number. 69 times 97 equals 6693 and 69 times 90 equals 6210. Since Sprint pass codes use four to ten digits as their passcodes, I thought maybe that might be it. Couldn't even get to use them because you need to press * before you enter the codes, and once I did- the cell company wouldn't let me access anything.

Sent this e-mail on Saturday/Sunday to Echo when we were told Margaret had the key:

Quote:
Dear Echo,

Hey there, I'm working in the darkness to find the right key. How do you know Margaret? How did you die in the rain? Do you like Seattle? How do you do honor? What happens at the wrong path?

Take care, Kendra

Then just got this response e-mailed today:
Quote:
margaret also disconnected

my exit

motorcycle rain

help trapped spirits

freedom

So maybe Echo died in a motorcycle accident? Looks like our endgame seems to be to free the spirits. No mentionings of Mona or Philadelphia State Hospital but I haven't e-mailed since the weekend. Need to review the files again, see if the numbers become clearer or something else pops up. Will also e-mail Echo and Mona. Maybe Margaret died of TB or pneumonia, those were common illnesses to be in a sanitarium for pre-1990s reform.

And had some other links that might be of interest:

A Myspace page about the hosptial, talking about "missing her children"
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=123820338

The hospital's Wikipedia page, mostly the same stuff at Opacity:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_State_Hospital

Take Care, Kendra_W

drizjr, thank you so much for checking the stare into us page. I knew we missed something there. I'd also like to know the reason why the static is repeated. Maybe there are six entities, the six telegraphed Es?
