So, last night, the countdown still had 24+ hours left to go. Since we already have our mission and the homepage has changed, what was the countdown timer to?

Saw your question on the Ghosts of a Chance page, Natas! Hiya!
So it's a combination between a puzzle and an art project. This is extremely cool. Are you guys in? I think we should all participate since it's a new idea for the museum. If they don't get takers they probably won't repeat it. Let's recruit for the new medium!

Necklace of the Subaltern Betrayer. Subaltern is a military term for a lower-ranked person, but I studied it in grad school as a term referring to anyone of a lower status than the dominant race/religion/class. A woman in the board room might be 'subaltern'. Or an African American in the deep south.

Is the subaltern betrayer betraying her/his brethren? Or the system that is keeping her/him oppressed?

Daniel Libbe comes up with nuthin, but libbe anagrams to 'Bible'. The daniel in the christian bible is the guy in the den of lions. Born noble, sent to Babylon and eventually got to be a high ranking leader there.

'crinolene' and 'tafetta' makes me think 1800's. 'Domesticity being gardening and proper care of servants' makes me think American South or England for some reason(since it's written in English, I suppose. Could just as easily be anywhere, though).

Any thoughts on that stuff? I'll keep looking around for other 'Daniel Libbe' interps.

I don't know how much ARG this is going to be, but I still like it anyway. So, since it looks like there will be a lot of user submissions, we'll need a place to post pics of everything we do.

I'll have my necklace put together by tonight 4-sho and will have a picture of it and post it here:

http://ghostsofachance.wikidot.com/necklace-submissions

and if you want, stop at the "eye submissions" page and enter the row-column of your eye. That way we can keep track of it all.

Couldn't find the "eye submissions" page or figure out how to join the wiki.

My eye is in Row 6-Column 6 and my nacklace will be
העבודה משחררת
I'll post a pic, here, when I get one done.

I need to get the provenance completed, tonight.

No. I'm not Jewish Wink

Thanks so much for putting that up Natas! I labeled my eye (and added a link to my wikidot profile in it so if anyone wants to do that also.... just copy the code I used and change it to your wikidot username) Cool

If I'm really bored later maybe I'll set up a way to cross reference between people's eye pic and necklace pics... maybe....

Posted an image of my necklace. Still working on the provenance to send with it. Replicating ~60 year old Dachau stationery is kind of a challenge.

Someone kindly labeled mine before I got there. I have to sit this part out, strictly because of the postal restrictions (and a lack of talent). If I could use USPS I'd send something in, but even UPS Ground is an arm and a leg from Hawai'i, and if I'm gonna spend 30-40 bucks on an ARG (first phase, mind you) there are people in line before this one. I do love the concept and look forward to seeing what you all produce. (Why does a garrotte come to mind?)

Got my necklace made, and am waiting for a friend to bring over a camera so I can post it. Will mail it out first thing tomorrow morning.
