More than likely, I'll see you there. Even after thinking that nothing would happen at each location, there's no way I'm taking the chance of missing something. So just as a little insurance, the Atlanta coordinate is covered.

I'm going to start off a while before the time hits in the (very) small triangular park between West Peachtree St. and Peachtree St. right where they intersect. Different maps seem to indicate that this is where the coordinates are and others seem to indicate that it is across Peachtree St. from the small park and possibly even a little further north on Peachtree St. than the intersection. I'll have a GPS so it should be easy to determine the exact location fairly quickly. I shouldn't be hard to spot... not too many people wander around with a GPS in nice work clothes (though the small park does play host to a Geocache, and there's another one by the statue ~200 feet north of the park).

That's really weird because the new Santa Cruz location is on a small patch of grass across the street from the old loaction. A triangular patch of grass. Anybody wanna work a Triangle theory???

Actually, Pawl, it's already been discussed (to an extent) in terms of the "bars, dots, and triangles" thing with the, um, thing that was found on the ship with Melissa. So you may be on to something, or once more, we all may be chasing shadows...

*DM is impatient and is wishing today was AXON day...(sigh)

If you wouldn't mind humoring a rampant speculator Smile , could you bring a small radio with you and try cycling through the stations? I'll be doing that from home, but if it's not a paid advert and/or if it's a low power station, I might not hear it from West Atlanta. There are a few stations a couple of blocks from the GPS coord, so you might want to keep a close eye on:

1380 AM
750 AM
98.5 FM
92.9 FM

Just trying to cover all bases. I appreciate it!

Ok, things have slowed down to a crawl here, as far as volunteers for coordinates, so I'm going to just shout out a recruitment plug here...

[rs][sb]There are some states not represented at all yet. A couple of them, like Utah and Washington D.C. (although not really a state, but you know) are "coordinate heavy" spots... Please, please do not "assume" someone will go there. If you can go, please do so, and if you don't mind letting the community know that someone will be going, let me know or post here! I also have no one for Pennsylvania, Idaho, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama or Kansas. And there's only one spot covered in Missouri, another "coordinate heavy" location. Also, a lot of California is not covered as well.

Again, I know most of the people reading this aren't necessarily posting, and I KNOW that a lot of people from around the world would LOVE to participate, if there were locations near them... Let's not waste this opportunity to participate in something really neat and unique! Sign up!
[/recruitment speech][/soapbox]

BTW, I don't know why I'm sticking to this idea like glue, or why I'm so dang adamant about it, but I really want to have every point covered... or at least try my hardest to organize it. If there's something I can do better to help, or if you would like my help in figuring about these locations, let me know and I'd be glad to help! Thanks for your time, and sorry for the longer post!

Posting here too, just in case...I am going to try to make it to the last two locations in Portland, OR: the 3:31pm at Lloyd Center and (hopefully) the 5:23pm at SE Oak & 82nd (though this one will be severely dependent on traffic).

Ok, last spreadsheet update for the next two hours: If I count correctly, we're almost halfway there! Great job, all! However, I also know that the Baltimore and D.C. locations are all still kinda iffy. Some people said they'd take them, but without specifics. (Just "I think I can get the D.C. locations") and I am a bit concerned, since there are so many of those... ANYWAY, without further adieu:

Ok, just to update, since there's no new claimants since I last posted a version of the spreadsheet, I will not update again, until I get a couple more people claiming sites. Please do your part and sign up if you can! Do you really want to miss out on this type of thing, if it is what we think? I mean, what's your loss? (Other than skipping out on work or whatever, because I'm not advocating that anyway...)

Alright Alright.

I'll hit the other 3 Chicago locations if kaynorr is doing the first one (sun times.) I just don't wanna get up early.

But count me in for the rest. I'll try to drag handfulofhoneybees with me as well. And my GPS.

Although I'm still not thoroughly convinced that it's ok for us to just sit around till tuesday... there still may be more to this than we think... wouldn't it be embarassing if we were supposed to figure out that we all need to be wearing a pink bathrobe in order to get the message or something?

As you may have imagined... I kind of burnt myself out last week... So I haven't gotten a chance to search the forums since they exploded again... (so much for all my beautiful hard-earned organization.) Is there a spreadsheet or something that someone is recording all this info on who will be where?

EDIT: Of course it would be located one post above me... sigh... I need some sleep.

I need to confirm this with work, but I should be able to take a day off to scout out the following locations in St. Louis, Missouri:

07:11 AM St. Louis (Watson Rd.)
11:56 AM St. Louis (Meramec Community College)
13:05 PM St. Louis (Bellefontaine)

Again, I have to confirm with work...and maybe I'll be able to divide it up amongst co-workers/friends. Will post when I can confirm.

kent ohio

Two of my friends and I will go to the 2 locations in Kent,Ohio
07:55 PDT - -081.342883,41.147517 | Kent, Ohio, United States | Satellite Image Map

and

06:59 PDT - -081.356250,41.153867 | 3 km NE of Tallmadge, Ohio, United States | Satellite Image Map

They are like 3 minutes away from each other, should be no problem. Sorry if someone already said these, I just formatted and am in the middle of installing Excel.

First of all, my apologies to keybsnbits for screwing up the name. No offense intended, of course! Secondly a hearty thanks to keybsnbits for keeping Phil updated in my stead last evening!

Thirdly, I will be sending Phil up the flagpole for all to see now (1) to keep this post near the top of people's minds, and (2) to show the progress we've made as of 7:30 PDT 8/19/04! Please, PLEASE keep signing up for spots. We've only got four days left to do this, and we still have a lot of spots left to cover!!!
