Something I've noticed in this thread: a bunch of first-time posters, some actually bothering to login for their one post, begging for quick answers.

You know what would actually be pretty cool? If the stuck people came on and posted what they've already tried (in detail, in spoiler boxes) and then other stuck people read that, play around with it, and post what they tried. Eventually you get this thing called a "discussion" going, and maybe you will collectively come to some sort of solution.

Good luck!

clues

I have found that of the three 'locks' I can move two using magnets but dont seem to move the third and as its in the middle im guessing that this is the one that stays in place and pivots the rest of the box?

The Solution

THE SOLUTION

OPENING THE BOX

1. Orientate the box with the pharaohs face down, nkryptor text up so you can read it. – The 3 locking studs are all at the left hand end of the box.
2. Keeping it the same way round and with your left thumb, slide the lid as far right as you can. It should move about 1 – 1.5mm.
3. Hold the box in your right hand by pinching the last 2 – 3 cm of it between your right hand thumb and first finger.
4. Tilt the box down at about 45 degrees (your right hand should just be a bit lower than your left) and then at that 45 degree angle, give the left end of the box a sharp tap / jolt against the open fingers / knuckles of your left hand.
ONCE SHOULD BE ENOUGH.
Now slide the lid again the same as you did before (with your left thumb) and it will open another 5 – 6mm.
IF IT DOESN'T, REPEAT THE SINGLE TAP PROCESS AGAIN UNTIL IT DOES.
5. Keeping the box in the same 45 degree position, flip it over so that the pharaohs face is now pointing up.
6. Repeat the sharp tap / jolt ONCE.
7. Using your left fingers this time, slide the lid open. (the lid is now on the bottom remember) It should now slide off. It may get to a stiff point but just keep pulling it apart.

TAKE CARE AS YOU SEPARATE THE LID AND BASE BECAUSE THE 3 LOCKING STUDS WILL JUST FALL OUT. IF YOU LOOSE THEM, YOU'RE STUFFED FOR CLOSING THE BOX AGAIN.

CLOSING THE BOX

1. Place the locking studs in the holes from whence they came.
2. Carefully slide the lid and base back together.
3. It will close up to about 7 – 8 mm from fully closed.
4. Now holding the box with the Pharaohs head up, repeat the single tap / jolt process but this time have the box pointing at 45 degrees the other way (IE have your right hand higher than your left this time)
5. The lid should slide into place.
6. Now shake / tap the box several times to make sure the studs pick up onto the magnets in their respective sockets. And your done.

One reason and one reason only for giving out this info.

The game is hard enough without finding out that you've waited 6 months to play a game that's impossible to get past level 7 of.

Unless someone can repay the compliment and tell me how to do that.

Current position, level 7 and 14,000 points.

1 million points……..I DON'T THINK SO.

Nkryptor reset

Hi ,
Thanks for the "solution ".I think it won't help anyone who doesn't understand how this puzzle works.
I ve got mine opened too but then i've put the magnets and studs in the sockets ( mine went separately ) and i wondered if originally they should not be glued to the cover ( i meant magnets ) .
Could anyone see into Nkryptor and say if the magnets are glued or free like in mine ? .
P.S. i'm on level 8th 30000 points ...and this becomes interesting. Do you really need to go up to 1M points as on the highscore it looks like 100000 is the best result.

Yes, the magnets should be glued in place. I've heard others say that their magnets have become detached.

My understanding ihaving opened the box is that the magnets couldn't be glued.

Howelse would the box "lock"!

Clearly, the magnets draw the bolts up and down respectively in order to create the 2 tier lock. IE you need to deal with each side in 2 separate actions to allow the box to fully open.

Saw many posts where the user had managed to get the 1st 4 - 5 mm and then got stuck again.

Definetely don't think the magnets should be fixed.

Yes they definitely should. That's how it was designed (I should know Wink ).

That's normal as designed. It was never meant to be so easy as to simply be a one stage process.

Nkryptor reset

Thanks for your posts on the magnets , i alsothink that they should be glued/ fixed . But even when they are not fixed the NKRYPTOR will open it will just be more by chance Laughing .
I've been occupied by playing this pharaons game . And I do think you need to get to 1M .... well acctually i did .
Funny thing is that from the level 50 ( score of about 30k ) or so the time bonus gets stuck at 2000 and nothing more until the end of the game.
After 100K it gets quite easy to end each level , it is only a matter of time Cool.

Cheers for all that think that it is impossible ( i was the one like a month ago Wink )

You're right that they should be fixed. And that's not just personal opinion, I designed the original NKryptor (the physical puzzle). I don't consult for SW any more so I've got no idea of current manufacturing quality etc or even if it's the same manufacturers I arranged.

RIP OFF

Im sorry, this "solution doesnt work at all" Ive had the game a year now without sucess, tried everything, magnets, compass, chissel, brute force......I think this "game" is just a big con by the manufactures to rip off the public, I have to hand it them though, it worked!!

Well I know for a fact you're wrong, I designed it and it worked perfectly well when I saw it manufactured. You don't need anything other than your hands and the puzzle to open it. Either your product is faulty or quite simply you're not doing it right. I suspect considering what you've done to it that you've actually broken it yourself.

Still worth getting
Still worth getting

Tempted to get this for my girlfriend for Christmas, but noticed that it was released over a year ago. Are they still giving out prizes? Is there a deadline to get 1mill?
Is it a challange to get to 1mill, but possible?

Thanks,
Molando

What? Yeah right, using magnetic hands!?! The ONLY way to open it is to use an extremely strong magnet, trust me I finally got mine open, and was seriously disappointed that you couldn't just open it with your hands.

Th Nkryptor was a let down... Mad
