md jingle
fibonacci

Cool

I'm pretty sure that the jingle is fibonacci in music. I found this example awhile back. The second example below the note pattern is,I think like the jingle, except MD's version is speeded up.

I called the number..left a message.

Also the humming you hear on the main page is an air handler it's the same sound as on case 0006 on Imagine. I was at a traffic light today..a warehouse was on my left...the same noise...an air handler exhaust system caught my attention.

Okay, I figured out the little jingle and the notes are:

G-C-A-D-C-E-D-G

Which, in and of itself, I can't get a Fibonacci out of, but- divide each of the notes into pairs:

GC AD CE DG

Now take the second note from each pair:

C-D-E-G

That's the first four notes in the Fibonacci waltz. The other notes are just harmony. It looks like the jingle was based on the waltz.

I know some people said they heard ten notes? Those last two were echoes.

new forum please!

I think it's clear that Fox is aiming at the first TV/ARG hybrid, which is AWESOME.

In that light, maybe the fringe ARG should grow out of the CF w/ potential to its own forum? It's be nice if unfiction could score the 'default knowledge base' thing and thus far no-one else has popped up.

Good work on the Fibbonaci waltz!

You mean like Canadian TV did with ReGenesis? A few years ago?

I'm not entirely sure that the lights are nothing. When you overlapped them all, it got me thinking more about the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci spiral check it out. Sry, I'd link it but on a break at work

Or like ABC did (or tried to do) with Push, Nevada?

So do you guys think we are missing something, or that the launch of the site is all we get for the time being?

[Edit]

Found a new mp3 file. http://www.massivedynamic.com/sounds/ambient.mp3

Any ideas here? Morse code? Binary?

I think the launch of the site is the main event at the moment. They gave us a lot of content to mull over just with that. I really haven't seen anything else of major ARGish significance.

Most of the info being discussed (symbols, fibonacci) has been around for a while. Though I think it's good that we're discussing it. A lot of folks didn't follow the pre-game closely, so a refresher helps catch everyone up.

Do we know the PM at this point? B/C the MD site looks great and gives me great hope for the game.

Incidentally, why the fibbonaci sequence arises in plants is a solved problem. It has to do with buckling of pressurized skin, e.g. in a cactus or young sunflower.

is best I can find in ten sec but the work I know of occured some years ago at uni arizona. OK yeah

http://www.innovations-report.de/html/berichte/physik_astronomie/bericht-27786.html

gets the source right anyhow.

Just adding more info here. thebruce, feel free to copy some of this to your wiki i guess if you see any of it to be useful.

The ticker data is pulled by the flash animation from an xml file located at:
http://massivedynamic.com/xml/md_tdata.xml

Also, I think the stock tickers may play an important role, as there is a nocache variable attached to the query string, which for those non-web-devs out there, means it requests a new copy of that file everytime the page loads, instead of caching it for faster loads.

Re: Fibbonacci

Wouldn't the PM be the Fox marketing department (or someone they hired?)

OK, the first anyone cares about. Wink

Good catch, btw.

My point is, a series where the PLOT is integrated into MEANINGFUL clues is unknown in the US. Whoever the PM are, whatever fox's plan for the ARG portion, I say Batman's $500 million and cloverfield's word-of-mouth box say GIVE US AN ARG WITH REAL INPUT INTO TV SCREENPLAYS. It's all about the demo after all. (/graphic)

This series looks perfect for it.

One thing it could mean is that they may be prepared to change/update it; whether it be a change in the "price" or "change" values.

<ticker>
<tnode type="stock" symbol="ABEF" price="44.88" change="-0.58"/> 44.30
<tnode type="stock" symbol="SIRI" price="1.46" change="0.14"/> 1.6
<tnode type="stock" symbol="SPY" price="126.16" change="-0.67"/> 125.49
<tnode type="stock" symbol="XLF" price="21.63" change="0.00"/> 21.63
<tnode type="stock" symbol="AFFX" price="8.34" change="0.46"/> 8.8
<tnode type="stock" symbol="AARS" price="9.93" change="0.36"/> 10.29
<tnode type="stock" symbol="AVAV" price="32.67" change="0.04"/> 32.71
<tnode type="stock" symbol="MELI" price="35.84" change="-0.01"/> 35.83
<tnode type="stock" symbol="OTTR" price="45.09" change="-0.25"/> 44.84
<tnode type="stock" symbol="PWAV" price="4.56" change="0.46"/> 5.02
<tnode type="stock" symbol="QLGC" price="18.43" change="-0.41"/> 18.02
<tnode type="text">Welcome to Massive Dynamic</tnode>
<tnode type="text">MD 42.23 0.18</tnode>
</ticker>

I wish I had more time to look into these now- however karaoke beckons. Perhaps the "differences" can be rounded to whole numbers in which a sequence or pattern could be found.

Good luck...

...and as an aside, does anyone think that 112400 could be an employee number, or just simply an access code?
