I don't know if it's just my computer, but does anyone notice that the crusor-thing in the text box for employee access flashes irregularly? (morse code?)

fringe
finding stuff

Cool
Obviously there are many sites up regarding Fringe. I don't think anyone has the exact way to find info. My general rule is if you find something on your own or from other site..give credit to the site where you found it. Others will want to check it out and perhaps build on what you saw. It all works together.

One thing that doesn't fit this pattern: glowingmonkeys.com, which updated with the message about a flood of traffic. But it's still a little questionable as to them being entirely IG or not.

OOG, clearly. Its a blog thats been kicking around but which suited the purposes.

So what's the consesus? Does this look to everyone else as something that will be a full blown ARG? Or just a little viral teaser to bring people in?

My hope is that it's a TV show with consistent viral elements. They've already displayed (pen+rose, zeno canoe, etc) that the ppl in the graphics dept 'get it'. But to my knowledge no one has ever pointed out to the top ppl/filtered to screenwriters what an asset a viral campaign can be.

I know of no research demonstrating a link between TDK, cloverfield, lost etc and ARGs but jeez for the money it MUST be appealing.

If it's a 'bring ppl in' thing I'll be disappointed b/c I haven't ever owned a TV. Who can be bothered?

Alright, another question. Is most of this being figured out here? Or at FringTV? Not that I'm going to neglect you fine people here. I'm really digging the theories. Smile

I don't think the default info forum has been set yet. Fox has a site but it sux and who wants big brother? There's no pre-existing fan base like SHH.

That's why I say give this its own forum. Maybe unfiction can draw pll (can it support them?) and the plus side is that they gurus anyway understand the material.

And with that can we officially declare a moratorium on the 'x obscure thing flashes is it morse?' idea?

If/when this proves to be an actual game, it'll definitely get it's own forum. For now it's only shown that it has the potential to become ARGish, which is why it's been moved here. Which in itself is a big step 'round these parts. So don't worry... I think this will become more immersive rather quickly.

The producers and screenwriters were at Comic-Con this year, and they definitely showed that they understand the value of viral advertising. This is JJ Abrams here... what has he done in the past several years that hasn't had a viral element? I have no doubt those in charge appreciate what an interactive experience can do for a show like this. It's perfect for it.

I know this stuff was done for Alias, Lost, and Cloverfield. And there's a viral site up for Star Trek now. Did they do it for Mission Impossible III? I've been wondering that all day.

I've been away since the pilot episode aired... so what's happened so far?

Also, that web site is VERY slow on my computer... they overloaded it with Flash

Edit: I watched the pilot (Leaked version and the one on a few days ago). EPIC! I live in Massachusetts, so that gives the show a "close to home" feeling Smile

I just hope they don't cancel it (which, from what they are doing with the ARG, seems doubtful)

Regarding the symbols- these have been prominent in the lead-up to the show, in early advertising and pre-game viral stuff. In the original thread each was determined to relate in some way to the fibonacci sequence (i.e. the golden ratio, phi). This sequence was the 'pattern' that ran through all the viral material, in much the same way that it's considered to be a 'pattern' found all throughout nature.

It's definitely the running theme, so should be kept in mind as the game progresses.

Ok... so Phi is the golden ratio which is the 1.61803 and is used in architecture a lot, but it's twin is phi which is 0.61803 which is seen in nature for leaf dispersions, etc. (Phi = 1 + phi)

Together, these are used in the formula for the Fibonacci sequence:
F[n] = (Phi^n - (-phi)^n) / sqrt(5)

Where to from here?

well, here's a mono map of the difference between the left and right channels (inverted the right and mixed the left)

The first image I posted was a a positive mix (left + right) this one's negative (left - right).

Not much difference between the two images (rather, not much the same between the two channels Razz) I'm thinking it's not a code; at least, not visually, as opposed to musically... *shrug*

Visually it looks like genetic sequencing... Anyone try to set the number sequence pulled from the hex into an open reading frame format? Curious as the next episode seems to hint of genetically modified offspring?

Taking a leap here, you've also got the apple with twin fetuses. The good Dr noted to his son that he was worried about his hypertension - male twins often are diagnosed with hypertension. Some folks noted that leading to the son entering the interrogation room, he appeared early on the screen. Could we have twins already modified by MD?

Employee Access page has changed. As far as I can tell, its just a cosmetic change.

Anyways, the "submit" button used to link to access_denied.html

Now it links to 1528435.html...but its still just the access denied page.

I have no idea what that number is.

[EDIT]

Also, the format in the ticker xml file has changed, if only slightly. The old format included the current stock price as a plain text value as well as an attribute. Now it is just an attribute in the xml item. I know this is a small change, but I'm trying to track any changes made.

I was thinking the Employee Logon password might be "Penrose" (because of the sign), but so far that hasn't worked (using the list of MD employees we have - started with "wbell" and "williambell"). So far, no success with that.

The employee login cannot work right now. It is just a static link to an access denied page. It doesn't matter how many logins you try, it cannot possibly work at the moment.

Have you checked it lately? For me, it's going to http://www.massivedynamic.com/employee_access.php, and when entering a username/pass (which have all been incorrect) it pops a layer stating "Access Denied. Sorry, username or password not recognized"

The submit button itself is a static link. The employee access page is there of course, I am talking about the submit button on the login page. It (now) links to http://www.massivedynamic.com/1528435.html.

Previously it linked to a page called access_denied.html.
