Mystery Urban Game We've come up with a cool new urban game where you compete against other people in an immersive real world environment.
It's a mission-based game where you are given secret details of your personal or team mission and compete against hundreds of other players.
Various stages of the game may involve virtual 'assasination' of other players, and you may also be contacted by in-game characters who may help or hinder you in your progress.
I cannot disclose any more details now, but will reveal more when we have 1000 people signed up.

There will be en entry fee for playing - to cover costs involved in setup, administration and in-game objects, but there is also a prize for the winner and runner-up.
Yeah... pass

1000 people? And I pay you? AND I have no clue where it is? Smells like S-C-A-M.

Agreed. I will need many more details before I would consider committing to something like this.
Undisclosed amounts for entry fees doesn't give me a fuzzy feeling.
I know you said you can't reveal any more details at this time, but I think if you want any chance of success, you're going to HAVE to.

Looks like it will probably be U.K. based anyway. Not my cup o' tea.

At the moment we are just looking for people to pledge their interest so we can see if there are enough players so the game can go ahead.
Sorry guys, obviously didn't make it clear enough. At this moment we are just looking to see if there are people interested in this idea.
We are really excited by the potential of this game and can't wait to get moving but clearly do not want to spend £1000s on developing the scripts, paying for in-game onjects and stationery for 1000s of players if noone is interested.
You are not committing to anything by signing up, just showing an interest.
For a rough idea of what we're thinking see http://www.streetwars.net/
Ours will be more in-depth and have elements of an ARG as part of the game.
Hope this clears things up a little for now, please let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks![/quote]

Just to mess up the plan...I'm interested, but not going to sign up to the website.

Question Question for the organizers: do you guys have any experience in running live games involving live events like this? 1,000 people seems like a lot to have to organize and keep track of for an event, but I'm sure it can be done. I note that street wars limits its game to 125 - 150 people. I wonder if it would be smart to do some small scale tests first?
You might want to ask advice of people who have run games like this. Or perhaps the Supreme Commander of Street Wars would be interested in working with you to develop something?
