[META] Hurricane Ike
How is everyone?

I'm trying to recall who here lives in the Houston -Galveston area ravaged by the storm and anyone else who was affected by it. Please check in, assuming you have electricity, or when you do get electricity, and let us know you're ok. (I know the storm was a few days ago, but I haven't heard how everyone has faired from the storm.)

I got a voicemail from Ubercado yesterday morning telling me that he and his family are fine. Still dealing with power outage issues, but otherwise just fine.

My Mom's got four inches of water in her basement, and her street is flooded. She lives in the Chicago suburbs. I feel very far away right now.

Isn't it crazy? I always thought snowstorms and tornados were the only natural disasters to worry about in the midwest. Apparently, we now have to worry about hurricanes too. There were two deaths in our town due to Ike and towns south and west of here are under several feet of water.

My parents have power, but people across the street do not. My apartment is w/o power and has wet carpet.

October's back home, with power back.
