[SPEC] Celestial Coordinates linked to sky maps

Send all love and affection to ROBOGriff; this was his idea.

There have been a few suggestions that these coordinates are celestial coordinates: right ascension and declination. Here are all of the coordinates from the trynamics web site http://www.trynamics.com/location_list.html, with links to telescopic maps directed at each point, as if they were right ascension, declination points. I don't seen any meaning here, but perhaps someone else will.

If anyone looks at this, be sure to reset the Universal Time to 2004-8-24 and convert the clock from PDT to GMT. Also, not sure which direction it should be facing N or S, so watch that.

One more thing suggested by http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=56772#56772 and myself somewhere is to either use the first point and look to the horizon of the second point or since all the times are PDT, start at SanFran for every point and look to the posted points.

Good luck!

While I don't want to disuade you, I did think of this myself, however making the points coencide with major US cities (let alone lie only in the US) and making them map to significant points in the sky seems a little unlikely. It's a good idea and if the coordinates were totaly random then it would be my main theory, however because of the way they fall when mapped onto earth I think they must be related to the geographic locations.

Date not so important; time possibly important

I couldn't find a way to plant the date into the URL, so the web site always defaults to the current UTC date and time. At least, that's what time it uses on my PC. The date and time shouldn't matter, anyway. Celestial coordinates always point to an absolute direction, with respect to the center of the earth. No matter what time of day you look, the celestial coordinates show the same view. At different times of day day you might see some fast moving object like the moon, but that's about it. The date makes some small difference, but really: we are so close to the 24th anyway, the view won't change between now and then.
