A rather cool video from Iamblind

http://www.dailymotion.com/iamblind/video/x6vqov_iamblindcornea_creation

Maybe the snakes/worms seen in the eye are the cause (reminds me of an episode of House)

I saw that earlier, but wasn't sure if it was official or not. It would seem to suggest that the cause is parasitic. There is river blindness that is infectious and caused by a nematode:

Gold Ward picture

Hi all!

I'm confused by the label image of the Gold Ward. The letters in the upper right corner look to me like
S....
CE...

S..... Center ??? That wouldn't fit with the Braille Institute.

I wanted to get a better look at it, started to search the flickr-source and found a larger version of the picture:

There's an arrow pointing at the bushes below the letters. Maybe we're supposed to go there and pick something up?

Snap,Trillian, must have read your mind while playing with the image. For my money the arrow doesn't look as though it's been photoshopped in but that's only my eyes. Dunno

Nice find! Audrey did say to go to the Gold Ward and look deeper. Belle, it looks like you're up!

Ineffable, since you apparently live in the area, would you like to be our messenger should she ask someone to physically go there?

I would love to, however I'm still trying to recover from being sick the last few months and am not really up to going around anywhere. But if there was confirmation there actually was a physical drop to pick up, I could probably find someone to go retrieve it for me....

Thanks for the orientation Lairosiel! That looks familiar. Besides by now I found out that Braille Institute is also called "Sight Center", which explains the S.... Ce... Smile

amandel, I'm also no expert with graphical software and can't tell if the arrow was inserted or not. Perhaps somebody with more expertise could have a look at the pic? If the arrow's authentic it would probably be just a waist of time to send somebody there.

I live about 45 mins from the institute. It would take a fair chunk out of my time (I am loaded with homework this weekend), but I might be able to go if Ineffabelle cannot. However if Audrey wants someone to go inside, the building is not open on the weekends. If we need to dig through the bushes that would be less of a problem.

As for whether the arrow is photoshopped or not, I just have to wonder...why would they have an arrow pointing into a bush? And it doesn't look like an official signpost, which I would assume might have braille markings on it. Just a thought.

Laughing When I mentioned above I had "played" with the image that's just my way of saying I'd spent about 40mins. running it through most of the color intensity detectors, corrections and gradations with Snagit and found nothing unnatural. Wink

Whether it's "shopped" or not they chose that spot to photograph for some reason.

Voicemail from yesterday that I just got - turns out it came from the Skype number I didn't recognize!

"Ali, how did you recieve the video? Who released the video? You will email your answers to 1003SPLATiamblind.org. Do not concern yourself with the Gold Ward. Be warned."

Same thing, but a little more info...which means, Gold Ward ahoy! Wink

So, is someone going to the Institute to check it out? (As an east-coaster it's a little bit of a drive for me lol)

As I said, it's a bit of a trek for me, and I'd need to first convince my family that I had a valid reason for hauling off to the Braille Institute of Los Angeles for a few hours. But it's possible, if no one else can do it.

On a different topic, should I respond to the voicemail? Did anyone actually send any email to 1003SPLATiamblind.org, or did we just kind of blow them off? Evanly, I am still up for tattling on you if you think that's the best option. There is a distinct possiblity that I would be infected instead of/as well as you, but if I end up going to the drop spot, I'll probably be infected anyway.

What's the group consensus? Choose my fate! Shocked
