Cloverfield toy release date?
Hey has the it changed

Hey guys when I looked at the cloverfield monster toy they changed its release date instead of october its now december

Whew, haven't posted here in a while... ANYWAY!

Yeah, i've been watching that figure like a hawk since it was announced for pre-order... The ship date definitely changed from 10/15 to 12/15... Very odd..

I was waiting until literally TODAY to pre-order the figure so I went ahead and did it just to see what the order receipt would say. Here's what my order says:

"Expected Ship Date: 9/29/2008"

But the main page for the figure says: 12/15 expected ship date!!

Anyone else who pre-ordered have any changes in their account box on Hasbro.com?

I checked mine today and it says: Expected Ship Date: 10/7/2008
Maybe it depends when you ordered it, I ordered mine on: 7/13/2008
So maybe if you order today it ships in Dec. Strange.

The Shipping Date

The order shipping date changes each day. It's always the next day, whenever you check it.

I just had one of my two orders canceled. Very strange. The preorder mechanism of the shop is kind of sloppy, IMHO.

Canceled Orders?

All of a sudden my order has been canceled "due to high demand". WTF? I ordered this in January! Anyone else having a similar issue?

Reorder Necessary?

I called and talked to Customer Service over at Hasbro and they said I needed to reorder the figure in order to get it. I wish the email had been clear about it, but I figured I'd pass the information along.

In a funny twist, it appears I had an order in for this piece and since it had been so long, I forgot completely. Tonight, HasbroToyShop sent me the bad news...

So..cancelled? Discontinued? Rescheduled? In my experience, a company only calls an item discontinued after its sold for a while and they've stopped making it. Since the Cloverfield Monster never actually made it to anyone's house, I'm going to call it canceled. We'll keep you posted as we get more info. Until that time, R.I.P. Clover and her little, tiny parasite thingies.

I fear Hasbro has decided that the toy isn't selling in enough numbers and being released this much later (after the film), it wouldn't have enough attention to garner any increase in sales. Sad thing, as if it had shipped in Sept. as I believe was originally stated it could have revived public interest in the film and it's viral campaign, and thus a potential sequel or other expansion of the Cloverfield universe.

This is a bit like a harsh death blow to the world of Cloverfield. If it really is cancelled, I hope that some day the 'franchise' can rise again like a phoenix from it's own ashes.

At least that could justify having driven us all batshit insane.

They still list it for sale and expected ship date of 12/15/09. Possibly, I could see why they would cancel a pre-order because they cannot ship within the legal timeframe (30 days).

Funny though it says "In Stock" on the page. I'll shoot them an email asking for clarification of whats going on and post it up here.

Damn, the figure is cool and all, but Hasbro's been handling this very inefficiently.
And JJ, if you want, you can keep the second figure you ordered and sell it when they actually discontinue it. PROFIT Very Happy
