My guess at this point is that this is part of some well-known ARG that already ran and no one familiar with that ARG has noticed this yet. Still, the alternative idea that a trailhead has gone unnoticed for this long is intriguing.

While this could in fact happen, probably the PMs of this game would throw another rabbit hole if this one would go unnoticed or would try some device to make people notice this video.

Anyway, good idea about the blinking eyes, molecularr, they do blink suspiciously!

Well, it's definitely a long shot. I mean, have you ever tried to blink morse code while reciting a line? It's *really* hard.

The other possible clue from the Huckabee video could be the more obvious one of symbolism in the background, but I can't see anything to go on if that's the case.

What's bugging me about this is that even if this is part of an already-ran, there should be something in it that's decipherable. I mean, without any links to or from any obviously-ARG sites, it should still be decipherable as an entry point of some sort, right? In other words, there should be some information that can be sussed out and redirected to something else.

The high-jacked video theory is interesting. I notice (as I'm sure probably everyone has) that there are two identical videos. One is by MsSnarker and was added March 02, 2008. The other, the one with the embedded cry for help, was by Dorothysnarker1 and added Dec. 20, 2007. Other than that they are identical even to the amount of time they run (3:1Cool. But, of course, that presents a problem of why the embedded one came first! Even the titles of the two videos are the same.
Another thought, might these just be kids playing around and is not part of an ARG at all? Maybe it doesn't go anywhere?
I guess the fact that the embedded one came first is my biggest question mark, though.

Uh...sorry that a stray emoticon jumped in on the time in may last post. I meant they both run (three: eighteen) There that should keep the little bugger out of my post Laughing

It's not really a problem, though, unless there's some necessary condition linking the "help me" content to Jodie Foster herself or to Ms. Snarker. I don't think there is. There's at least one other version of this clip from around the same time as the mysterious. It's like, let's say you and me wanted to create this mysterious footage and distribute through a "hacked-looking" youtube vid. I wouldn't upload this video with my account or yours, because that would lead any trail-seekers back to us. Also, if we just made up an account for the purpose of this video, we would have to decide what characteristics to give to that uploader account. Is it a character in this game world? Does it make sense for them to have access to whatever hackedness allows this message through?

We might decide that we don't want to go to the trouble of creating an account that just looks like an obvious dead end.

Instead, what if we made an account to appear as though it belonged to a verifiably out of game character? It would create a red herring, but it would remove the problem of having to explain an additional game vector in the form of this youtube persona. So, to do this, we might find a visible person without a youtube account, but with a logical motive for creating one. That way, we could use a fake Ms Snarker (or whomever) as our cover.

That's always a risk, but I for one keeping checking this thread to see if anyone has figured anything else out. Smile

Yeah. I keep checking this thread to for that reason, too. Good reasoning and thanks for your reply! I am truly amazed at the ability of people on this forum to ferret out all the information that you do. [Do all you unfiction people work for the CIA]? Shocked Laughing

Can Youtube videos be edited by the poster? I mean, could this person have posted the uninterupted version in December, then switched later on, giving the appearance that it was overlooked when it is really brand new?

If you look at the comments on the video, the help message was noticed about 7 months ago.

Hi, i am new to this (this website and ARG) and this is not my native language (don't even know if "native" means what i think it does) and as odd as my posts may sound i beg you not to think that i am part of that game (if it is a game) because i am not, i was just wandering on some websites looking for a starting ARG and found you guys. So, just wanted to say that IF this is a game and IF the video is new and youtube was "hacked" to show fake date, then the comments must be fake too and so we may find some clues browsing through users' profiles...

sorry for my english (it's just a matter of time before i find the words back, haven't spoke it for a while...) and sorry i don't just check myself it's kinda late here (2am) and i have to wake up early tomorrow. (and of course i'm sorry if this was what the previous post meant...)

me again, i couldn't sleep before i found something relevent so i googled the words pronounced and found that thread http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=304&pid=29043&st=0&#entry29043
talking about that video : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=aSSlUeiiBa8

i haven't read the whole thing because as you already know i don't fully understand everything and, the most important, i have to sleep...

but you can notice that it is from january, so i guess the date on the video is correct and maybe everybody just missed that rabbit hole...

so i guess the question is now "is it still running?"

I still find it hard to believe this is a game (but hoping it is!) because it would be a tremendous amount of forecasting to have made something 7 months ago, to just now begin... Even if it was a game in December (which there are no records of) or if it would pass unoticed in on UF (which did), the PM's would find another way to attract people, a plan B, and thus we would then know about the game then and later find the video. Does this make any sense?

Anyway, if there's a game planned and this is in fact the rabbithole, the PMs will give us (hopefully) another clue, because we have nothing now.

Another video with same "hacked" video

The post above from dumdum has a link to a speed racer promo that has the same exact hack! Check out his/her link. Good job finding this (unless of course you are the one behind it!) Smile

Yeah, good call. And again, this is from an account (devildodos) with a single video post, where this is a similarly named, presumably real youtuber (devildodo) who has also posted a non-hacked video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO2jcwgIi8o

I've been following this out of curiosity and wanted to contribute my evening's work...

Here is the dialog as I understand it, but I can't make out exactly what the guy at the computer is saying.

If you get this, we need your help.
We're the last ones, the rest are dead.
[something about 30 seconds left]
You're the only one who knows about us, the only one who can help.
Please find us….you're all we've got…we need you.
Whatever you do, don't… [breaks up]
We're dead if you do… all of us…please don't leave us here…not like this…

I googled the phrases every which way to see if there were any other hacked videos but nothing turned up other than Speed Racer and Jodie Foster. I also did an advanced search in YouTube and nothing.

On a different track, in case there is any significance to the specific clips that were hacked, Emile Hirsch (who starred in Speed Racer) also starred in the movie "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" also starring and produced by Jodie Foster. That movie came out in 2001/2002. It doesn't look like there is any connection in the movie content...but it does connect the actors. (Which is probably not too uncommon either.)

*edited the dialog after listening one more time*
