[META] Number of active players Are there enough participants? This Game is really huge. There are so many things to read, to discover, many different groups to join and so many IG characters to interact.
Even though the number of registered persons on SLA is not that low, it seems that the number of people actively participating is low.
There have beenn only four people applied for Student Council, up to now there are "only" 4 images and 1 video uploaded for the Fellowship Challenge and discussion on the courses (besides Biology) is very limited.
Seems that only a few are trying to keep things running. Even on uF only a few are posting on the threads and ... the wiki is run by one person (me )
I am not sure if the concept of this game will work with so less active players. It seems like it is designed as some kind of massive player ARG. I feel a little bit sorry for the PMs. They are making a real good job and the feedback is low.
Perhaps, ARGs are still not "mainstream" enough for such a kind of concept.

I have a friend who was actively following allong although not posting much but when the whole SLA thing came into play he pretty much gave up. I think he felt overwhelmed. But I'm trying to talk another friend into joining and he seems interested.
I have to admit, I was a little overwhelmed myself at first but now I feel like the size of this game is even more reason to give it all of my attention and really make an effort to be part of it. I usually play a few games at a time but I have not even looked in N&R since Mikey made the Google Group because I know I will only have time for this.

I'm wondering if people are turned off by the classroom aspect. I have to admit at first I was. I don't think people should be, though. I don't think anyone will "fail" classes and therefore be "kicked out". Yes, there is the whole TINAG thing, but I think the PMs probably realize they will not be able to hold everyone's interest if the game becomes too much work.
Putting forth a little effort and posting something in the classroom forums should be sufficient I would think.

I would like to be able to contribute more to the player submission challenges, but I really just haven't had the time. At the pace this has been going since Mikey's Google Group started and especially since the school website showed up, I've had barely enough time to follow the story developments, let alone contribute to it. I kind of wish the game had started like this during summer, I feel like myself and I'm sure others as well would have more time to contribute content to the game. I also hope we see more puzzles as that's somewhere I feel I can contribute without devoting a lot of time.

For somebody like me that just got involved right before all the school stuff started happening it's been a bit overwhelming... I love the ideas, I love the concepts, I love what I've read, but besides my already overwhelming coursework that I'm already behind on taking the time to do this stuff is just a bit too much for me at the moment. I want to participate more but it's just not in the cards at the moment as I have just about overextended myself with the amount of interesting projects I've been involved in as of late. I love the ideas here and will be actively following, reading, and occasionally posting as well but it's just too much for me to throw myself completely into it without sacrificing other things that I unfortunately can't sacrifice... Oh well... I'll do my best regardless...

For those concerned about the classroom participation for this ARG, I am copying this statement from the "Introduce Yourself" thread on SLA.
Prof Franklin wrote:
Yes you have more than plenty time to catch up sweety. Dr. DeGrance made sure our lesson plans were developed to allow students the opportunity to study at their own pace without having to worry about tests. The assignments are in place to allow us the opportunity to guage how effective our lessons are for the students. The workload may appear to be heavy, but we feel that as long as students as a whole appear to grasp what they're being taught then the class is succeeding and all will receive full credit.
Again there will be no tests, you study at your pace to learn what you have to to survive in a world of humans, and new students should be welcome to join at any time throughout the trial semester without feeling they have to do so much in order to pass.
There will be plenty of other ways for people to participate other than being completely entrenched in the story, too. Uploading a picture for a challenge or making a video will go a long way towards making a collaborative game for everyone to enjoy and it doesn't take much effort or time.

Just wanted to say I am still here, just busy like everyone else it seems. I had been going back and forth with Jan, but that seems to have stopped for whatever reason. *shrug*[/google]

I definetely plan to be joining in as much as possible, but I'm getting an annoying tendency to fall asleep on my bed after coming back from school these days.
I've been PM'ing the characters though, and trying to post in the classes (I'm gonna do so bad in Astronomy though ) so I should be OK when I settle back into my school routine.

personally, i got turned off when this thing became focused on the Google Group. i havent recovered since then, though im trying to get into the school aspect of this.
i guess i personally feel no connection to the schooling aspect of this because many of us are already going to school, so its not too appealing to me.
however, im gonna lurk this for a while and try to get into the school thing. if not, ill just be a lurky-lurk until another step in this ARGs process comes out.
i also wanted to say that i <3 this game's storyline and cant wait to see where this goes.

This. I mentioned before that I just graduated from college, and as a result I really don't want to be back discussing readings and doing assignments and joining clubs again. I figure I'll just lurk on the St. Laudine's boards and participate more actively in other parts of this game.
But yeah, the plot is awesome enough to keep me here anyway.

does anyone else wonder/think that the St. Laudines aspect of this is the main focus of the game now, like, its the thing that the game was building up to? in other words, that this is where the ARG is at for the most part from here on out.

I at least hope that SEALs will have a big part. I would like to see SEALs hook up with The Shadows of Man and work more with Amun and Novak. But I see the school being the main aspect with lots of side puzzles and storylines.

I would guess so, it seems to be more like an ARG that what we've seen previously.
