I agree that vocevideo.com is a jack.

And some people may have missed it, but teufelsdrochk is a player here on the uF forums.

Tsk, tsk... people should have spotted that sooner. Seeing as he posted in this very topic a bit earlier.

Yeah, but some others seemed to have missed that. You said you found that in the source? I think someone's just f'ing with you.

do you know anything about it, teufelsdrochk?

I think I was first to look at vocesvideo, so like a weird credit thing?

Just looks like sum1 is taking advantage of the traffic. Sry I didn't speak up earlier.

Still, whoever is running the site at least paid attention to us and had some advance reason for selling alpacas. And they know ARGs well enough to know 'Quod Incepimus Conficiemus' would drive us nuts.

BTW, I am glad someone finally grouped alpacas in with paranormal science. Never quite trusted them.

teufelsdrochk is the main character of 'Sartor Resartus' (misspelled),

Not really new but I got back another reply form MD. I sent this one under the guise of a member of the media inquiring about the holographic computer monitor. The response was the same as all the others

Just wondering if they are waiting until they get a cluster of emails and then send out replies en masse?

Also, I think the last time they did this we also had a minor update to the MD site.

Just caught up with all the threads (except for episode 3 & 4 as we haven't got them in the UK yet).

One thing I did notice on the MD site (in the Global Responsibility area) is the $10.1 million they have donated to the 'Daedalus Fund,' which sounds a little out of place alongside the other categories. Also strange is the $2.3 million they have donated to Antarctica. I suppose it could be out of the 'Enviromental Initiatives' category, but it still seems a little weird.

Wasn't the Daedalus Fund found to be a huge scam several years ago?

I think this is what you're referring to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakan_Yalincak#Daedalus_Capital_Relative_Value_Fund.

Living in the UK, I hadn't heard of it before now.

Still, the section on the MD website where it mentions the Daedalus Fund is Worldwide Giving in the Global Responsiblity area. It sits alongside Global Health, Education etc. It seems strange that the writers put it in there, and there seems to be no real world equivalent or mention of what kind of 'charitable' works it entails. It could just be something to make the company sound more ominous, but I thought it was interesting.

So after a couple weeks of being a little bored by the lack of action happening online (though I love the show), I decided to check my email and got tons of crap back. No doubt some of these are the same. In case not, I've posted them. It seems no matter who I wrote they all got routed with an automatic response from massiveSPLATmassivedynamic.com:

The following is the same I get from emailing techsupport and legal:

Hello,

I was unable to get a hold of anyone on the phone. I would appreciate if you can send me more information about the tech support opportunities you offer with your products.

Thank you,

Michael Colon

The following response I got back 8 times (in response to me emailing 8 different possible ingame emails):

Quote:

Thank you for your interest in Massive Dynamic.

At present, we are unable to fulfill your request.

Your information has been preserved, and you

will be contacted if and when resources become

available for that purpose.

Hello,

I'm very interested in what sort of research Massive Dynamics does. Could you send me more information?

Thank you,

Michael Colon

When I wrote w.bell, n.sharp, and k.hutchens I got the same response. Again not from them but from massiveSPLATmassivedynamic.com:

We're sorry, but there are currently no job openings
at Massive Dynamic that match your skill set. We
will keep your information on file and contact you

Hello Mr. Bell,

I am very interested in the job opportunities at Massive Dynamic. I am very impressed with your company. Please send me more information.

Thank you,

Michael Colon

This next one is the only different one. I don't know why they called me Mr. Buitenheld. That was the ingame character that I was writing to. It think it's just a typo. Anyway:

Quote:
Mr. Buitenheld,

We appreciate your interest in making a donation. However, the MD Foundation is funded entirely through corporate profits and donations from MD team members. We suggest you donate to one of the many deserving charities worldwide, such as the Methuselah Foundation and the X PRIZE Foundation.

Hello Mr. Buitenheld,

I am very interested in making a donation to the MD Foundation. Could you email me information if this is possible.

Thank you,

Michael Colon

That's all.

Cool
I sent an e-mail to MD asking when the red ball would be activated. I go an e-mail back at 9:02 P.M.EDT as Fringe started. But it was an automatic response...we have assimilated your information and so forth. I sent the e-mail over a week ago.

Exactly my earlier point - more than 6 weeks since the pilot aired - a waste of time and momentum if there was an interactive component planned or afoot imo. This doesn't negate the fact that the show is enjoyable and entertaining, but I really feel that if they had planned a game, they would have capitalized on the interest much earlier [or at least provided some sort of player payoff by now].

Patience is indeed required in this genre at times, but a cause and effect relationship does come into existence between player and PM at some point [building the trust that players come to depend upon] and imo this would have already happened in some form or fashion by now.

BTW - I am a "she" not a "he" Wink

That's not necessarily true. Lost for example went through a season of having some very small interactivity and interest building through micro-sites before actually making an extended experience in the second season. Granted, that was Lost which (even though I'm enjoying Fringe) is a whole different caliber.

Fringe does have a great potential for an interesting EE, but perhaps its already high ratings might not be enough to warrant one out of its backers?
