just a thought just had a thought.... I've been playing through FoM again, and noticed none of the other Brits or Americans use the Bullseye, Auger, etc... can Hale only use these weapons because he has the "Chimera Gene"?

...or may be it was because he was the only one to survive while attacking the Chimera...

Yeah, I do think that the others didn't have time to "explore" and find new weapons... they just die before lol
The weapons are not "locked" to a specie, I mean, if you have played Metal Gear Solid, you would remember that the enemy's weapons were locked with the nanomachines, which had to match the user. So you need to unlock them in order to use them.
In resistance this does not happen, so it doesn't mean that Hale can use the Bullseye because of his new Chimeran genes... however, it seems that in Resistance 2 almost all the cutscenes are made with the Bullseye, and that this is due to the "preference" he has got because of his Chimeran influence (or this is what someone has said in myresistance.net), so you might have your point there... at least in R2.

What about Cartwright? In all his missions (roughly equivalent to that of Hale) he must of killed and looted a Chimera or two...

.. what about Cartwright? :S
well.. he's not infected, and he appears there as help and as a driver, but it's still you who has to do the job an kill most of them lol
I actually used him quite a lot in the level when he drives, when we were attacking those bases where you have to swith the buttons (in order to open the gates), I used to leave the car in front of the entrance, and then run around the base to kill the ones that were outside, while he killed quite a few of the ones that were in the entrance, then after killing the ones outside, I throwed a grenade inside and directly to the top floor to kill the rest

naw, what about just before you discover the "excavated tower" when Hale and Cartwright split up? I'm saying that b/c Cartwright has killed a Chimera or two (implied in all the missions he somehow survives) he'd pick up a weapon or two off the Chimera... but for some reason he doesn't

Well I presume that Nathan Hale (and other Sentinals) were trained much better with enemy weaponry then the normal front liner. That and everyone else died.

Because he had infinite ammo and was good with the sniper, he had no reason to drop it.

As a game design decision, it makes sense to NOT have any of your NPC allies use Chimera weapons - hearing them and seeing the bullets, you might think they were enemies. That's assuming it was an active decision on the part of Insomniac (it very well could never have occurred to them - but I doubt it - maybe from a lesser developer). But doesn't one of the documents we found mention the Sentinels will have more strength and special training to use these new weapons that are in development? Perhaps Insomniac and 42E inserted that to explain why none of the other humans pick up a bullseye.

I kinda look at it from the perspective of the soldiers. One of the only things they knew about the Chimera is that they spread a virus that turned humans into Chimera. In order to scavenge weapons from a downed enemy, it would mean prying it from their dead, bloody, contaminated hands. Out of fear of contamination, I'm sure a majority of soldiers avoided anything Chimera-related like the plague. Furthermore, it only makes sense that soldiers were probably strictly prohibited from coming into contact with anything extra-terrestrial (besides killing it, of course). Hale, of course, knew that he had a resistance, so he had no reservations about using their weaponry. Just speculation, of course...but makes sense to me.

^good point, actually - then again, the Sentinels should therefore have no qualms about Chimeran tech, which should make for some epic Sentinel vs Chimera battles.... (remember the Auger battles from FoM, and that was just Hale )
