SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY!

I feel quite like an ass, but will do whatever is needed to repair any damage done.

True, we took the instructions about looking in the lining of the box a little too literally, and the box isn't really serviceable anymore, but as far as e-mailing Rose, I completely forgot about it.

I literally haven't been home since I first got there at 7 am the morning after as it's been midterms week, but yeah. Credit's never been what I was after, and I'm sorry if I mucked it for anyone else.

Faeryqueen, did you send the e-mail?

What's next

Faeryqueen21 and FacianeA, I wouldn't do anything until you hear back from Rose. If she needs you to do anything, I'm sure she won't be shy about asking. But I bet she'll be cool about it.

You make an excellent point about the message to "check behind the lining of the box" being confusing. Before the word "box" appeared at the end of the last video, I thought it was going to be a pointer to the three clues in the CD: the pin on the CD, the pin in the liner notes, and the high-end meta clue in the liner notes that hangs a name on the powers that be. With the word "box" the clue does seem to be pointing to something special in the box, but it may have just referred to the golden pick.

Enaxor, the language thebruce quoted points out the nature of the target as a geocache, but there is one other pointer as well: the clues in latitude and longitude coordinates. I wouldn't expect Gina to write about us looking for a "geocache" - her using that term would make it sound like a game, and This Is Not A Game. Between the instructions and the coordinates, it seems obvious to me that's what it is. What I heard back from Rose confirmed it.

I'm sorry I'm not comfortable sharing with you all in full what I heard from Rose, but the language was personal and coming from the man behind the curtain. That may be what that part of the game is: a personal message from Rose for whoever completes the quest to physically access the geocache. Or, it may be I received what I did just because I found the game accidentally broken. Don't know, so I'm sitting on it. Faciane and Faeryqueen will have to make that call with whatever they hear back.

I'm working against a deadline on a project at work, but before the 13th I'll compare my game notes with y'alls, to see what either of us missed. My two big unsolved mysteries are 1) finding any clue in the police report, and 2) missing two song videos: "Saw the Sun" and "Love Resurrected." I think we won't see "Love Resurrected" until at least the 13th, but also missing "Saw the Sun" makes me worry I missed something in the police report. The license plate number stands out, as it's not a standard California plate, and the report number looks like it could be hexadecimal. That's all I've got from that item.

Aight. Gosh, there's like a bad taste in my mouth now. But onwards and upwards, as they say. Umm, a few things. The like, little "code" or whatever beneath the lining of the box top looks instinctively to me like it says "a6s" or "abs" or "ab5" I'm gonna say though that I really don't think it has any worth. It's written in pencil and it looks like somebody wrote it on there before it was a box. But in the spirit of completeness, there it is. Also, I'm gonna go ahead and e-mail Rose now, as I've not yet received word from Faeryqueen.

Okay, e-mail sent. Here's the text of it.

Hey there, Rose. My name is Alex. I was one of the small group to originally find the box. I'm sorry if I ruined anything, and would gladly do whatever is required of me to fix it. Anyway, you asked for a story and here it is.

It was really really really dark by the time we found the proper road we were looking for, and even darker by the time we reached the little roadside box on a pole and staircase we thought we recognized from the video. We grabbed our nearly dead flashlights, shovels, and headed out. After looking around for almost half an hour, my friend Andrew began to review footage of the video he took on his cell phone. It was terrible quality, but from what he showed us right then, it appeared to us all that we had been looking in the wrong place, and decided to continue down the road until we found another box on a pole. We drove around in the dirt and rocks finding no more poles for almost an hour and a half before we realized we should probably go back and double check our first hunch. This time, I personally reviewed the footage and decided that we had, much to my dismay and then excitement, been right the first time. We walked around again, this time diligently checking each and every prominent rock before Faeryqueen, in her infinite wisdom, decided to climb a little higher. I knew she found it when I heard an "Oh, fuck yes." from high above. We grabbed our tools and went to work digging for almost twenty minutes before we finally got the package out of the ground. At first, upon opening the box we just found the note and that beautiful guitar pick, but following the secret clues placed at the ends of all the videos, we knew to check behind the lining. And check we did. We tore that box apart, and to our extreme excitement, discovered a signed copy of Gina's new record. Pretty neat, huh? Anyway, in keeping with the directions in the note, we left a special little prize for the next people who came along, even though admittedly, we were a bit inconsiderate in the taking the marker rock away with us. So that's our story. Hope you enjoyed it.

As promised, pictures are here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/31087450@N04/sets/72157607700506434/

On a side note, printed on the CD itself was the code #7226 next to your name. Know anything about that?

Again, Rose, if there's anything stupid I might have done, I sincerely apologize, and I'm more than happy to replace anything I wasn't meant to have taken. Taking something from someone else was never my intention. I hope you're having a good day!
-Alex

Also, I apologize for any grammatical errors located within this message. I'm quite the stickler.

Yeah, I e-mailed her and heard back. She seems very nice:

Quote:
Hello Ariana.

Thank you for getting back to me and don't worry about it taking so
long.
I'm so impressed by the effort that the 3 of you made and I am truly
surprised that you found the spot so late at night and without the GPS!

You are the first of what I hope is a long list of people to find
Gina's
special burial spot. If you had gone during the day, you probably
would
have recognized that beautiful area as the one where Drew and Gina
watched
the sunrise.

Believe it or not, someone else has already gone to the spot since
you've
been there and left something for someone else.

I would like to post your complete story, pictures, your names and even
a
photo of members of your party if that's okay with you. If not, feel
free to write a quick blurb and send whatever photos that you'd like
posted. If you have a clear pic of the guitar pick, that would be awesome,
too.

Take care Ariana. And by the way, don't worry about the rock!

Rose

So I guess I'll e-mail her a picture of myself but FacianeA is going to have to e-mail his own picture to her. Also, FacianeA, can you e-mail a better picture of the pick? Obviously mine didn't come out.
Oh, and I never mentioned half the stuff to her that she referenced in the e-mail. I didn't mention the lack of GPS or taking the rock. *waves at Rose*

Hey guys, did anyone see my post about Carolyn and Heather?

Hey, has anybody noticed that "Carolyn" (in one of Gina's photos) and "Heather" are the same person?

And: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=361692063&albumID=548817&imageID=2655562

I'm so sorry if someone already brought this up and I missed it!

Also, Dan's myspace lists him as single, and he says that he wants to meet his "future wife". Doesn't sound like an engaged guy to me! Oh, and note that Carolyn's myspace has no tagged photos of her...and Dan's doesn't either, actually.

Am I crazy, or do other people see this?

Haha. No, you're totally right. That's really weird. I don't really know what to make of it though. I still think that the end of the narrative has come and gone, so maybe this is just like some kind of situation where it's heather the real person, and carolyn the character? Who knows. Maybe (Read: Hopefully) I'm totally wrong and this is the key to whatever happens on the 13th?

Also, Faeryqueen: I'm at school right now, so I'm away from my precious external hard-drive, but when I return home late tonight, I'll take care of it straight away!

Thanks for explaining. I totally see now, how you reached your conclusion. As mentioned before not being a geocacher, it was easy for me to overlook the obvious. My bad. Can't wait to see what happens on the 13th.

BTW, welcome to unfiction, glad to have you aboard. Very Happy

Hey everyone. Wanna know what's weird? I still haven't heard back from Rose at all I sent her photos like she said, as well as that like, super-long e-mail the other day, and she hasn't even acknowledged I exist. Has anyone else gone to the site or sent her a message?

If you mean the paper with the lyrics containing circled letters, that's been there. It's a pointer to Tory Rowen's myspace page with one of the videos. The paper is also referred to in the diary, the April 5, 2008 entry.

It's up

New video and note. Checked while some software was taking its time loading at work. I just got hit with a new task and deadline, so will likely not be around to help for awhile. Good luck! P.S. FacianeA it looks like Rose got your note!
