TuxKamen, re 17:51 - looks to me from MapQuest that the location is actually a bit south of Questor & therefore south of Portofino - it might be 2482 Northside Dr, which is a McDonalds.

which would place this location in the same category as the two mysterious burger joints in Hyannis.

Halo 2 Happy Meals anyone?

Location: San Francisco

some info for you guys,

I went on a rampage today and personally visited 4 spots in San Francisco (16:51, 17:03, 17:11, and the 18:03) I didn't have a GPS but zero'ed in to within about 10 feet or so. even if it's not exact enough for the standards of the thread I'll give you the addresses anyways.

16:51- On the payphone located exactly on the coordinate the address is listed as 600 Broadway @ Grant (phone is in front of "New Sun Hong Kong Resturaunt"). On nearby traffic light pole is some graffiti that looks like it says "BEE RIBITY 2004" in a vertical manner i.e. BEE on top, RIBITY in the middle and 2004 on bottom.

17:03- Large office building with a swank sign blue adonized steel numbers say "333" Market street the building is called "shoreNstein"

17:11- no address but coord is located 15-20 feet inside the bank of america branch's customer parking lot. google BofA branch locations and get the address

18:03- Last coord in game. coord is exactly at a payphone again. on payphone it says address is 46 Geary. religious bookstore and STA travel office are behind phone on coord side of street. BTW the phone actually has it's own number printed on it and does receive incoming calls (tested myself). hopefully something happens.

hope it helps.

I forgot that fast food places were a theme.

The McDonalds you're talking about is actually on the south side of Friars Road, which is the major street crossing Northside. It's a little far away from the actual point. If you look just south of Questor but north of Friars, that's all the Villa Dorado apartments (yes, I went house-hunting in this area). Anything north of Friars is purely residential.

BUT, I just looked at Mapquest, and it (incorrectly) lists the address as being exactly at the GPS point! This is a good catch. :) I don't know why 2482 is listed there; 2500 is the first address north of Friars. The Japanese restaurant sharing its parking lot is at *2406*. Huh?

(EDIT: You know, this suggests that, like us, the orchestrators are using mapping software to get their GPS points--they aren't actually going out there and doing it themselves. Putting 2486 up there is the fault of relying on an auto-addressing map tool, not walking up to the place and actually recording it.)

OK, the McDonald's is a good plan. Do we have 'themes' for all these locations yet?

Fast food
Landmarks
...?

10:50 in Garland TX is at the front of a small commercial building at 1138 Belt Line Rd (confirmed via the city's excellent online mapping system)

Google lists only two business at that address. One's a clothing store called Connie's. The other is an opticial company run by Reyna Hernandez, OD.

Reyna.
Doesn't that mean something in Spanish?

So that might be the PM's little joke for 10:50. But what we're actually supposed to deduce from this location I just don't know.

(usernameguy, I like the sound of your spec that the stores might be acting like some kind of verb. maybe it'll become clearer as people post more location descriptions...)

'Reina' is 'queen' in Spanish. Which you probably already know. :)

fivecentfamily, what I wrote was unclear - we are actually agreeing on most things, but what is your source for the "3300" in your address?

It was an educated guess based on the address numbers of surrounding streets that I COULD get to come up with MapQuest. Actually saying 3200-3400 would be more "accurate". But since I don't believe there are many (if any) buildings there it's pretty much a moot point.

I firmly believe that this is still an eroneous location, and will be "fixed". But if it doesn't, I'm glad that at least I'm not the one going there. (Good luck, vpisteve)

Using both the road map and the satellite image map from the excel spreadsheets on the WIKI, I decided to drive by the Garland point today after work.

If the maps are accurate on the spreadsheet, the point is actually in front a United Artists movie theater (enticingly close to a row of payphones) in the shopping center on the Southeast corner of Garland and Beltline.

I didn't see the two businesses that you mentioned in your post, but I wasn't looking for them at the time.

I've been a lurker throughout this entire puzzle, and haven't had much to say on the matter, thus the reluctance to post, but I thought this was important.

If you look at the image its literally on the front doorstep of a white building (the movie theater). Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

One more thing in this entirely too long post; I'm an idiot, but 10:50 Pacific would be 12:50 Central, correct? Just want to make sure i'm there at the right time.
