I emailed and asked about this because it looks like one of the documents is wrong (i.e. an error). The response I got was:

Hmmmm. So it is not a technical fault that the documents give different information. Was Sir Isaac playing on two teams at once?

I sent in information about 14: Imposters because when I looked up Marie Antoinette, the information that came up with what was on the card didn't add up.

Jeanne wasn't the impersonator of Marie, but hired a prostitute to do the job as the person she was trying to scam was her lover. The man they list as having anything to do with the theft of the French Jewels was arrested, but was released because there was little to no evidence that he was involved.

They said they would send the information to the editors.

They will send information to the editors, but only if they think it's a mistake.

that you have to solve all the puzzles in the messages that you recieve in the game inbox there is a certain amount of messages and everyone is on the same message and as soon as you solve all of them(you get new ones each week to solve) you get the clue and become an agent that can do missions

just read what the 39 clues guy emailed me it tells you all that stuff

Okay, let me be more specific then: How do we know when we've received "all" the messages?

INBOX

My inbox has had 21 clues since I started. We should be getting another soon because of the secret Document two being found.

On the Cahill web search, does anyone else get nothing for George McClain?

I sent an email to the help desk, hopefully they will realize there is a problem and we will get the messages.

New email received this morning (Australian time):

It looks like Grace must have made an error in putting together her file. Isaac Newton is a Lucian. Thanks for pointing this out, we'll have it corrected to remove this confusion in the future.
Thanks,

I agree with the 39 messages thing, I also think that we'll only be receiving one a week from now until then. I mean after all this contest is supposed to last 2 years, and were only a little over a month into it...but having said that I think most of us will receive more than one clue once the training is over seeing as how I have all the cards ( expt. those from book 2,3 & missing 400's ) and solved them I hope this would be the case anyways.

At the bottom of the Will of Grace Cahill it states that we will receive 4 missions per week and will receive a clue upon completion. As no one has received the 2nd clue, and the Monday's document states we should be getting 3 more, we are still in training mode.

They should state clearly when these rules change.

Gilbo: A gold star indeed! I was thinking that we had ourselves our first Madrigal!

Welcome to THE GAME. You are now in training to find the 39 Clues. During this training mission, you will get messages with Top Secret tasks each week in the inbox below. Complete the tasks, and you will get a Clue.

thats what the rules say above the game messages it doesnt say that we will recieve 4 messages anymore it just says that we will recieve messages each week so i dont think its 4 each week anymore

Tasks is the operative word there. We have only received one task.

I have recieved 6

Maggie wrote:

I recieved 5 so far:

  • Pilot Training
  • Shoot like a Tomas
  • Decode like a Lucian
  • Fly like a Janus
  • Think like an Ekaterina

If you include all the "decoding", then I have gotten 11.

If you include reading each message a "task" then I have gotten 21.

However, I see what you are getting at. If you take a look and read it in strict grammer:

Quote:
"During this training mission, you will get messages with Top Secret tasks each week in the inbox below."

Is says you will get messages (plural) each week, and that each of the messages contains tasks (also plural). Said another way, if you wanted to read that sentence literally and strictly, it means each week we get at least 2 messages, with each message containg at least 2 tasks. Since each message (so far) really only has one task, I believe the sentence is trying to say that over the cource of the training you will get messages with a task in them, and that these messages will come at least one each week.

This is different that what was origionally there, but like I have said before, Scholastic is trying to strech this out as long as possible. They have 2+ years to let loose 39 clues. They will likly put a bunch at the end, which means less up front. They will also likly drop a clue just before each book or each card pack version to build anticipation and attention when they want you to buy something. They also want you to visit the site each day if possible.

Also, on the clues front... has anyone actually unlocked the 2nd clue? I got my 21 message in my "inbox" yesterday but none today. However, just as yesterday's message had you look at the 1st of 4 documents, I have found (by guessing the URL) of the second document. It is here:

http://www.the39clues.com/cahillweb/article/secret-document-two

In the #2 document ....
Did anyone else notice the "Ship" Julie and the scheduled stop at 26N76 "W"
Our last reference to that location didn't include a W.
