Is TV programming a not-so-distant cousin of ARGs?

Came across this blog, discussing TV and ARGs. The author was prompted after reading Jane's dissertation on collective intelligence, args, and Ilovebees. He draws a lot of parallels between the TV experience (creators and viewers) and the ARG experience (puppetmasters and players).
