New Daily Inspiration.

DI thought...

The only thought I had on today's DI that fits with our numbers theme from the past week is:

9-11

I cannot tell you how much I hope that is not the answer.

I can't imagine that's the answer

Not only is it in poor taste, but it's really not clued at all by the verse. All the other clues have been sufficient to solve the puzzle without having an uber-theme to latch onto.

I will note that "crumblets" is a very odd word choice. It's not a real word, and the only usages I can find for it are a couple of recipes, the urban dictionary - which defines it as one who is disgustingly persistent - and a gaming website that is related to yoyogames & claims to be related to City of Heroes City of Villains. I don't know enough about MMPGs to determine if this is in any way clueful or useful.

My first thought on reading "So little man made will..." was that it might have to do with last will & testament - but I can't figure any way to connect that to anything useful.

Rich Reder

Hey guys, I'm new here. This is my first ARG. I've read the whole thread and I think I'm up to speed now. I don't have any insight on the DI but I wanted to mention something odd that happened to me that may or may not be coincidence...

Yesterday I joined the CoV group on Facebook, changed my status to say "[I am] subverting Citizens of Virtue!" and changed my profile picture to the Cafepress pic of the yellow "I'm humble!" shirt. I also friended Savannah and sent a request to Gareth Blayne. Is it a bad idea, in this kind of game, to publicly announce you're doing something like taking down CoV? Should the characters react to that?

Anyway, this morning I found a new friend request awaiting confirmation, from somebody name Rich Reder in Cincinnati, OH. I've never met this person, I don't live anywhere near Cincinnati, and we don't have any mutual friends. He has no profile picture and only two friends: Sarah Reder and Emily Saul. He's not a member of the CoV group, but there is another person named Reder in it, one Shirley Reder. The whole thing is very suspicious to me.

I don't indiscriminately friend people on Facebook, though I do have a limited profile I add people to if I don't know them personally, so I'll be happy to add this guy once I know what his deal is. I sent him a message asking where he knew me from. Do you guys think he's related to the game in any way?

I have a much less morbid idea for the DI, although it seems to leave large parts of it unused:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Not even" can imply reading only the odd letters of "crumblets" to get CUBES. That would give us 8, 27, 64, 125, etc., though since all of the others have clued only two numbers, I'd suspect we just take 8 and 27.

[ETA]
@uselessness: The folks behind the game have sort of hinted that Facebook is okay to use for out-of-character talk; Savannah Merks has mentioned that she's too busy to read any of what we write there. The Rich Reder thing doesn't seem likely to be in-game; odds are he's probably just a real person who's mistaken you for someone else with the same name.

Interesting take, Projectyl. Not sure if it's necessary to spoiler discussion of possible approaches, but since you have, P, I'll continue, putting in my two bits about how to make this use the entire clue (though still not actually coming up with an answer.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Maybe we're supposed to be looking for a type of edifice that would break down into cubes - like Legos (if Legos were cubic). I like the idea of it being a toy - the "little man" in the first sentence could be a child, playing with building blocks of some kind, and of course, those edifices don't last long.

Keeping with the Exodus theme, could this be a possibility?

Exodus 12:17
"Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come."

There are many verses that mention the phrase 'lasting ordinance' in the book of Exodus. This was the only one where I could see crumblets taken in context.

Edit: I was reading it like "there are few things man makes that last". I guess it could also be read like "a small group made will last", which could mean that we made Wilfred Dawes appear as the last mentioned on the About Us page and the others are destined to follow.

Email Account

I have received another email from Anna Gimble, she is instructing me to access a gmail account, any ideas as to what the password would be?

Here is the email...

Quote:
Thank you Chris,

David Gerard, the director of Camp Francis, said that he just e-mailed out revised directory information this morning. To get to your directory, just go to your Camp Francis gmail account and sign in.

In case you've forgotten, all parents' official Camp Francis accounts are at campfrancis.<first><last>@gmail.com

Great job! This ought to be interesting...

By the way, I got in touch with Rich Reder. Turns out he is into CoV but isn't a character or anything, just a fellow player. Kind of embarrassing, but I guess this kind of game causes one to read into things a bit. Carry on!

For the dimmer ones amongst us - exactly how did you get into the email account... Question

Other than that, who's sending postcards? I suspect that Erin Coles PO Box is going to be rather full!

worthy m - I used the password recovery tool to get in, then I changed the password & the security Q&A so that the CoV can not take control of the acct again.

I sent an email from Erin Cole's acct. to the CoV asking if Tabitha could send a quick email. We'll see what happens...
