Technically, it's not a TOS violation, it's just bad form.

Oh I thought it was against TOS to post in your own game thread. Sorry.

Yes, the fourth post down on page four. It said a lot more yesterday but he edited it out.

Not to mention, this is an OOG forum. An IG character is not supposed to have any recognition that we're here discussing it.

I'm not 100% sure I agree... If i were to be completely immersed, and part of the game was surveillance, I wouldn't be surprised if my internet postings regarding the "game" were watched and perhaps acted on. Not agreeing with the demand of removing postings/content, but to see this forum as something that an IG character could not have recognition of makes me wonder if that should always be the case...

I've only been a member of this genre for a year, but I've read numerous posts/threads from admins and moderators of this forum and a LOT of puppetmasters who would disagree. From my understanding, UnFiction forums are "strictly an OOG reference"

it's a big discussion that gets into the philosophy of reality... so in simple forms, it's carried out as a TOS rule - PMs can't post in their own game thread, and characters should avoid referencing/recognizing OOG material that defines them as fictional. That doesn't mean PMs can't watch and use what they see in the forums, but if it's used, it has to make sense in an in-game way that doesn't require acknowldgement of UF.

It's like a cloak of invisibility - The obect (uf) is still there, but the observer (character) doen't know. Light ("game"play) can be affected by it, bent all the way around it; the light's path can be actually altered by the object, but the observer can't tell the difference. The puppetmaster knows aout the object, but the observer doesn't.

Brings me back to the beginning of Star Trek Insurrection with the team observing a civilization inside the cliff-side. The civilization wouldn't understand, couldn't comprehend the reality that would be presented by the team.
Very rough, insufficient analogy, but essentially, in the character's "alternate" reality, they can't comprehend that they could be fictional. For gameplay's sake, UF is considerd OOG as a safehaven for discussing the game as a game, without the characters getting information they otherwise wouldn't, via this 4th-wall-breaking resource. It goes deep.

There are resources that discuss the philosophy, and debates still going about it, but basically - UF TOS: PMs do not post in their UF gamespace, and characters shouldn't use information gleaned by the PM from that source.

I knew that eventually someone would come along who could explain it better than I.

Hmm, it seems that it may have been part of the game after all and wasn't meant to be refering to this specific website? (Either that or the PM quickly rethought his gameplan, certainly not a bad trait). At first I thought this was just a mass reply from another player, but I guess not.

Dear Jack,
You can buzz off okay? Ever hear of the freedom of information act? Plus we never had a written agreement, you just made me promise, and last time i checked, a promise wont hold up in court.

I really don't appreciate what you did there. I specifically asked you not to spread these files, and what do you do? You go a post them on the god damn internet, which is the complete and total opposite of what i asked!
Consider this your first warning, take the files off the website, or I will be forced to take further action.

Dear Jack,

You obviously do not fully understand the FOIA; considering that the Journal and diary are currently contained within the states, I have every right to them, and to do as I want with them.

I also find it funny, Jack, that you did not address several things: you did not inform me, that the files are to be kept to myself, and after speaking with Respondent 096, i believe that you skipped this step on several of your Respondents.

Thatʼs just bad form Jack

Dear Patrick,
Yes i have heard of the Freedom of Information act; however, the files that you have been given [Scan0012; Scan0015] do not apply to these laws, seeing as they are not naturally from this country. Once again, take them down or we will be forced to act.

Not to shift attention away from the nature of reality and such, but I wonder what he means when he says that the documents are not from this country. Weren't they found in Ohio?

has anyone seen scan 12 and 15?
besides what is reality if not really bizarre (cause this is getting there)

and i guess just because they were found is this country it doesn't necessarily mean they're from here

Hmmm... so maybe these scans are/would be from a different place? I was under the impression that they found all the pages in the same place and were scanning them one at a time, but that might not be the case.

I Googled "scan0012" and got lots of pictures of the Old West, but no journal pages. "scan0012 signal antenna" got no results.

Dear Jack,

You know more than anybody else that the Journal does not even fall under our jurisdiction. Hell, it doesnʼt fall under anybodies. So why must you press this issue further than it already has gone? Leave this be and let the public know
