I have a new name

I just received my new name and email address. I am Bro. Glowren. This is a very well conceived setup so far

anyone having any luck finding the deserters? i've been in a bit of contact with brandon larkin, but he gave us only a few minor details about who he knows that's escaped and hasn't promised to put us in contact with them yet.

So now that we know that cult names are similar to last names (Flamerock = Pyrolith), where can we go from there?

I was sort of hoping for an internet cult-name generator, but no such luck.

Stuck?

I know, I don't have any new info for amanuesis, and he said not to contact him again until we had learned all there was to know about these guys. Well, back to squinting at the names and hoping something jumps out at me. Confused

Has anyone tried to contact Brandon from a marevitreum.com email address asking for his help to get out of the cult? I never received an email address so I can't try myself.

brandon

i have a marevitreum email - and did send a note like that - the information is very vague and coming in drips and drabs - it doesn't seem that it will be the way to solve the puzzle.
one of the ex cult members is an electrician. . .

In one of the stopasog posts, the phrase "scott-free" appears. Ordinarily I would write this off as an innocuous typo on "scot-free," except that it's conspicuously repeated in the title and body of the post. Also, the high standards of language and attention to detail we've seen so far suggest it's intentional. I don't know what it means, though. Could one of the deserters be named Scott? Jerry Scott?

The header on the stop asog page is also interesting. The sheep on the right is using a simple abacus, on which are marked (from top to bottom) the numbers 4, 5, and 1. These numbers correspond exactly to the number of sheep in each cluster from left to right. Again, I have no idea what this means.

EDIT: apart from the implication of "counting sheep," which jibes with Sayther's description of the uninitiated as "sleepers."

header on stop asog

I also noticed the header on Stop ASOG--there seems to be a little visual echo of the cult names of The Fallen (thanks to dharma22 for the definitions).

Thole = wooden pin --> the sheep on the right has wooden pins for legs
Sweven = vision seen during sleep, a dream --> the sheep
Wanion = word of uncertain signification --> ASOG
Pallid = abnormally pale or wan complexion --> everything at top is white
Shadow = silhouettes, a ghost --> not sure about this one

Doesn't really help us figure out anything about them, but maybe it would be worth asking Brandon what the significance of his header image is?

MM was so much more than this. Over 12 hours long, not cost to play, huge teams, a very underground feel. I hope this isn't its successor.

I am not getting the same conclusion from my name. Yours is defiantly true, but mine (stramash = Babb) doesn't seem to pan out.

Stramash=chiefly Scottish : disturbance , racket, crash , or smashup

Anyways, I am pretty excited about my name... I can't say that it is accurate to my personality, but I will give it a try. Me Smash!

--->I have contacted Brandon (through my ASOG account) and told him that I was that I was trying to escape ASOG. I will let you all know how that pans out.

Madness...

I haven't been able to get e-mail responses from amanuensis or Brandon Larkin. Does it matter what you write to them? Also I'm completely stuck on this puzzle.

Ugh it's 1:32 AM here, and I don't want something leaping out at me like they always do in other ARGs...

What's now on the MV page? I just got my e-mail headed "The Third Trial".

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's the alphabet, except for Z, with five letters across and five down in order. When you click on some letters, colored circles pop up on various letters. For example, if you click the A, both A and N get purple circles.
